On Tuesday, the House passed a Continuing Resolution keeping the government funded until December 11. The bill also extends the highway trust fund for a year and blocked a planned increase in Medicare Part B premiums and allows FEMA to access 2021 funding to provide assistance to those effected by this year’s large number of hurricanes and wildfires.
The CR was held up over a dispute between the House Democrats and the Trump Administration over the Administration’s request for more funding for payments to farmers hurt by ongoing trade disputes and the Democrat’s demand for more funding for nutrition programs. Ultimately, both sides “compromised” by agreeing to increase spending on both famers and nutrition programs.
The bill passed by a vote of 359-57. You can see the vote here.

Democrats and Republicans also remain apart on a deal on another coronavirus spending bill.
Last week, the so-called “Problem Solvers Caucus,” a bipartisan group of House members, unveiled a “bipartisan” coronavirus relief plan. Their proposal would spend between $1.5 and $2 trillion—depending on the state of the economy next year—on various coronavirus “relief” programs including state aid, enhanced unemployment benefits, and, of course, contract tracing.
President Trump reportedly favors the proposal, but so far, congressional leadership of both parties have refrained from endorsing the proposal.
House Republicans have unveiled a “commitment to America,” a list of priorities they will enact if they gain back the House and keep control of the Senate and White House in the November elections.
Among the Republican priorities are funding a COVID vaccine, as well as increased support for testing and tracing. The plan does not mention vaccine mandates. However, tracing and tracking programs could be used to ensure that only those certified as “safe” – because they received their vaccines – are allowed out of their house. This is especially the case if the tracing and tracking is combined with the Bill Gates-Anthony Fauci proposal that individuals carry a “digital certificate” confirming immunity to COVID, either because you received the vaccine, or because you had the illness.
The Republicans also promised to expand access to opioid addiction treatment.
It also extends small business loans and even increases federal spending and involvement in education.
While the plan does promise more “growth oriented” tax cuts, the vast majority of it is a commitment to expand government.
This all shows that there is no party favoring limiting government in DC. This is why it is important to build a strong liberty movement that exists outside the two-party system that can hold politicians of both parties accountable when they vote against liberty.
