How a New Pope and the Rapture Fit End-Times

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Pope Benedict’s announcement of resignation has huge implications because “there are seven kings: five are fallen, one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he comes, he must continue a short space” Revelation 17:10.

Since its establishment in 1929 until today, the Vatican [Vaticanus means "divining serpent," Google it] has had seven kings:

FIRST KING – Pope PIUS XI (1929-1939)
SECOND KING – Pope PIUS XII (1939-1958)
THIRD KING – Pope JOHN XXIII (1958-1963)
FOURTH KING – Pope PAUL VI (1963-1978)
FIFTH KING – Pope JOHN PAUL I (1978-1978)
SIXTH KING – Pope JOHN PAUL II (1978-2005)
SEVENTH KING – Pope BENEDICT XVI (2005-2013)

A short video on this, “The Prophecy of the Popes,” fits with the above information well. Please visit http://www.disclose.tv/action/viewvideo/125068/Prophecy_of_the_Popes_Peter_the_Roman_the_Last_Pope__the_End_of_the_World/?aid=Unitb166er

The stage is now set for end-times. Millions of Christians have an impending sense of destiny as they compare current events and Bible prophecy, and many of them are hopeful of being raptured so they don’t have to face serious events.

However, a growing number of scholars are no longer convinced of the rapture. “Rapture” is not clearly taught in the Bible – and because of this, it has been easy to jump to a mistaken conclusion.

We find that several points in Scripture do not fit rapture teaching:

1) For example, Christ says that “when He comes and knocks,” we should “open to Him immediately.” Luke 12:36. If you have been taught to believe in a rapture, it may be easy to think that’s what Christ is referring to here. But then why, in the same passage, would Christ say, “Have your loins girded, have your lights burning”? If He were going to rapture us; it wouldn’t matter. We don’t need to sleep with our clothes or lights on. It’s about something else.

2) When Christ said, “One shall be taken, and the other left” (Matthew 24:39-40), He wasn’t talking about a rapture. Luke gives more details. The disciples asked, “Where, Lord? And He said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, there will the eagles be gathered.” (Luke 17:37).

With this additional information, it suggests that those who are taken are not raptured to heaven; they become the dinner for vultures. “One shall be taken and the other left” should not be understood as a rapture.

3) A pre-tribulation rapture is contrary to God’s way of dealing throughout history. History supports that “we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom.” Acts 14:22. Our belief that it won’t happen to us is based on a few texts that can be explained to mean something else. Everyone in history lived through trouble and died, except for Enoch and Elijah (discussed below).

4) Christ said, “As it was in the days of Noah” (Luke 17:26). Noah wasn’t raptured; he came through the storm. Enoch was raptured before Noah was even born, so his being taken to heaven had nothing to do with avoiding the Flood or tribulation.

5) Elijah was raptured, but Christ never said the end would be like Elijah for us. Elijah was raptured only after he confronted false worship of Baal. Our confrontation will be with Antichrist when the United Nations mandates everyone to be marked or implanted for identity purposes, for this will be contrary to the Bible, Revelation 13:16, 17; 14:9, 10.

6) Christ did say it would be “As it was in the days of Lot,” Luke 17:28. Lot wasn’t raptured. He was told to flee, and Christ told us to flee because there would be great tribulation, Matthew 24:15-21; Mark 13:14-20.

7) Everyone else in history has faced trouble and death. “Now all these things happened unto them for examples and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come,” 1Corinthians 10:11.

8) When asked about the end of the world, Christ said to understand the book of Daniel. The book of Daniel shows no rapture. Daniel and his friends were tested by a series of life and death situations.

Daniel” means “God is my Judge” – and it may well be that we will be “judged” when we face death and do right. Otherwise we may turn out to be only “fair-weather” Christians.

9) The Bible teaches that “the Son of God” was in the fiery furnace with the three Hebrews, Daniel 3:25. “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you,” 1 Peter 4:12. God will be with us in the trials.

10) “Broad is the way, that leads to destruction.” Matthew 7:13. Millions of fiction rapture books sold these days (such as those in the “Left Behind” series) suggests that there is a broad following of people who believe in an “easy get-away” rapture, which does not fit well with the Bible’s teaching that “we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God,” Acts 14:22.

11) “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:16. Rapture teaching (i.e., thinking that “we won’t be around”) is the fruit of a lack of Bible study of the book of Revelation. Interestingly, Revelation is the only book in which Christ promises a blessing for “reading…and keeping those things that are written therein.” Revelation 1:3. We would understand the book of Revelation better if we studied it. Revelation uses symbols and imagery that we can decode from other parts of Scripture if we study and become familiar with the Bible.

12) We would feel like 2nd class citizens in heaven if we were raptured from trouble and lukewarm materialism (Revelation 3:17) and didn’t have the opportunity to face trouble manfully as did Daniel, Peter or Paul.

13) Rather than rapturing “lukewarm…miserable” Christians focused on materialism (Rev 3:17), we might expect God to allow events that relieve us of our things so we will see they are meaningless in comparison to what He is offering us. “Who may abide the day of his coming… for he is like a refiner’s fire,” Malachi 3:1, 2.

If we are faithful through this refining process (the trumpet plagues of Revelation 8 and 9; the mark of the New World Order, Revelation 13:16,17 and the 7 vials that fall on those who receive that mark, Revelation 14:9,10 and Rev 16), we will be ready to meet Christ when He comes visibly. “Every eye shall see Him, Revelation 1:7; 19:11.

Nice work! It’s going to be hard to undo hundreds of years of false teaching in a few short years though.

I pray for those who have ears to hear, let them hear!!!

Your points here show depth of understanding. However, #2 is a little too deep or something. I couldn’t quite make out your connecting point. Would you elaborate?

      • Dr Richard Ruhling

I apologize and you are right that I need to clarify. Luke 17:37, “Wheresoever the body is, there will the eagles be gathered.” refers to the dinner of the birds at the end of the world in Revelation 19:17,18, not a good place to be taken! And the Flood took them all away in Noah’s time. It’s better to be “left behind” because it’s not about a rapture.

      Richard,
For shame sir, you’re 100% wrong. The gathering of the Bride of Christ is biblical and will happen prior to the start of the tribulation. All throughout scripture God has delivered the righteous prior to judgement. There isn’t a single occasion in the entire Bible where God made the righteous suffer His wrath along with the wicked (I dare you to try to prove me wrong!). You say the rapture believers need to read their bibles? I think you need to read yours! And get to know the great love of the Father! If He laid down His own life for us while we were yet His bitterest of enemies, then how much greater is His love towards us now that we are His children? The Bible says that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever! And if he wouldn’t judge the righteous of the old covenant (who were only righteous by their own works) along with the wicked, then how much more will He not judge we who ARE the very righteousness of God in Christ Jesus?! No sir, there is no condemnation to those of us who are in Christ Jesus. And where there is no condemnation, there is no judgement (Basic Law 101). To say that believers need to be refined by God’s wrath negates the sacrifice of Christ and calls God unjust – and that dangerous territory indeed, sir!

        Dear Deeply Loved..

We all are deeply loved and since All Scripture is profitable for instruction (Paul was speaking of the Old Testament when he wrote it) please consider HOW we marry the Bridegroom when He comes (Matt 25:6). The foolish virgins lacking oil, lack it from the two olive trees in Zech 4, the Old and New Testament. Lacking oil includes Jews who don’t accept Messiah and Christians who don’t understand the Old Testament and it’s marriage. When God took Israel from calamity in Egypt to a covenant, He regarded it as a marriage and later said, “I am married to you,” Jer 3:14. Paul included that history when he wrote, “All those things happened to them for examples…ends of the world.” 1Cor 10:1,11.

This means we can marry the Bridegroom and yes, He will gather us in THAT context. Please note what it says, “I will gather you out of all countries and bring you into your own land. Then [New Covenant Promise fulfilled] and you will dwell in the land that I gave your fathers” Ezek 36:24-28. This experience is crucial because we (you included) won’t be ready to meet Christ in the sky without His laws written in our hearts which are deceitful, even wicked.

You can read the New Covenant Promise in Jer 31 and it has the SAME idea–note Jer 31:8,10,17 as overlooked context, and it uses the word “gather” that you used.

And you misquoted me in your last sentence. I did not say we need to be refined by God’s wrath. His wrath falls on those who accept the mark of the beast (Rev 14:9,10) but the marriage with the above context will spare us when the rest of the world is under New World Order (Rev 13:15-17).

Let me suggest a great new ebook for cheap– Apocalypse 2013: How to Survive the Fall of America. You can get it at the bottom (2 screens from top) of http://RichardRuhling.com

        “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;

but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory [2nd Coming], you may rejoice with exultation. ….

For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome of those do not obey the gospel of God ? ….

Also, let those who also suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.” IPet4:12-19

Going through the Great Tribulation has nothing to do with condemnation. Saints will keep giving testimony up to the 7th trumpet. Saints are not destined for [penultimate] wrath — the bowl judgments. Where does condemnation comes into the picture? “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Rom8:1)

“These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes….” Rev. 7:14

        Questions for you:
        1) Where does the Bible say the gathering of the Bride is prior to a supposed seven year tribulation? Please give me a verse. The Bride makes herself ready after the fall of Babylon the Great (Revelation 19).
        2) Where does the Bible say there are seven years of “tribulation.” Please give a verse. My Bible says that the saints are worn down for a time, times and half a time, the Holy City is trampled for 1260 days, and the beast reigns for 42 months.
        3) Where does the Bible say the Seventieth Week is a time of tribulation? Nowhere in the text is the word “tribulation” mentioned.
        4) Where does the Bible say this imaginary seven year tribulation period is the wrath of God? Give me a verse. My Bible says the Day of the Lord begins after the Sixth Seal events, which Jesus says happens “after the tribulation of those days.”
        5) Where does it say “all through Scripture” that God has delivered the righteous prior to judgment? My Bible says that all of the Israelites were still in Egypt when God poured out His judgments on Egypt. My Bible says that when Israel was taken into captivity to Babylon because of their rebellion, that righteous people like Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and a host of others were taken with them, and many like Shadrach, Meshech, Abednego, Daniel, and Jeremiah suffered. When righteous Rahab was saved, she was still in a protected part of the wall when the rest fell. She was brought out after the city was taken and put to the sword. When God destroyed the world in a flood, Noah was protected, not removed. And Lot fled to the hills.
        6) Where is the Bible does it say that “the righteous of the old covenant were righteous by there own works? My Bible says that they were righteous because of their faith. Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. In fact, God, foreseeing that He would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Gospel to Abraham beforehand…” Read Hebrews 11. The Old Testament saints were justified by faith, just as we are.
You are confusing tribulation, judgment and wrath. The Seals are tribulation, the wrath of Satan. God allows His people to be tested in tribulation, persecution and martyrdom. This is a fact of history. God allowed Satan to test Job, and afterward Job was rewarded sevenfold. Throughout history millions were persecuted and killed, and even now their souls cry out for vengeance.
The Trumpets are the judgments of God. Their purpose is to bring many to repentance. They are poured out on 1/3 of the earth. Just as in Egypt, God poured out His ten judgments in order to bring Pharaoh to repentance. When Pharaoh had finally hardened his heart in rebellion, and there was no chance left for repentance, God destroyed Pharaoh in His wrath.
The Bowls are the wrath of God. No one survives the wrath of God. During the Great Tribulation, the judgments of God will be poured out in order to bring many to repentance. When finally there is no chance that anyone will repent, the bowls of wrath will be poured out with speed and finality, and no one will escape.
This is the pattern throughout the Bible.
        7) Where in the Bible does it say that “where there is no condemnation, there is no judgment (Basic Law 101)? My Bible says that now is the time for judgment to begin with the household of God (I Peter 4:17). He also chastises and disciplines. My Bible says that our faith does indeed need to be refined. “…In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ…” (I Peter 1:5). “…but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation” (I Peter 4:13). “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (James 1). This verse goes along with Revelation 3:10-11. “Because you have guarded My word of perseverance, I will guard you from the trial which is about to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold I come quickly; hold fast to what you have so that no one will take your crown.”
To be sure, the doctrine of a PreTribulation rapture negates the sacrifice of Christ, because it claims there will be so-called “tribulation saints” ( a concept foreign to scripture) who will be save apart from being baptized into the death of Christ as part of His Body, the Church. THIS is dangerous territory indeed, sir!

    • Dr Richard Ruhling

      Todd (Wott)
Responding to your 7 lengthy questions, I may not satisfy them completely, but here’s the basics.

Seven years of tribulation because of double imagery for 7 bad years in Pharaoh’s dreams–once in history and again for the end-times as te “twice-speak” code suggests.
Nebuchadnezzar ate grass for 7 years as Babylon was humbled.
7 days around Jericho, blowing a trumpet each day X six (six trumepts in Rev 8 & 9) iand then 7 trips on 7th day are like 7 last vials, Rev 16.
Yes the beast has power for 42 months in Rev 13:5, but before that, God gives power to His two witnesses for 1260 days and they bring the trumpet plagues, (water to blood, shut the heavens, Rev 11:3-7)
Wrath is in the 7 last plagues in the 7th years, for those who accept the mark of false worship. Rev 14:9,10.
What we aren’t seeing is that message to Laodicea
has six parallels to Luke’s wedding parable where
we are to have “loins girded” like white raiment,
lights burning like eyesalve, both get a knock
and are to open. Ruler over all that He has is
like “sit with Me on my throne.” Rev 3:21.

The point is that all three wedding parables have
imagery supporting an invitation to the wedding
      1. The king’s servants bid others, even though scorned
      2. The wise virgins have light, also seen in Luke 12:35.

The “knock” in Luke 12:36 requires “immediate” response
and unless one has pre-considered the meaning of the
knock, the midnight cry or Judgment in Matt 22, we will
fail of the high destiny that could be ours.

The midnight cry (Matt 25:6) is like the original midnight cry,
a “sudden, unlooked-for calamity” as in Egypt when God
executed judgment (Exod 12:12) and took Israel to a covenant
whereby they became His kingdom & bride, (Exod 19,5,6; Jer 3:14)
“All those things happened for examples…ends of the age” 1Cor 10:1,11
In that example they made a covenant at the beginning of a wilderness
experience and in Rev 12:14 the woman (church) flees to the wilderness
for 3 1/2 years prior to the beast power for 42 months, Rev 13:5

Making the covenant coincides with His gathering us. For more information
