The people behind this promotion of Latvian tourism approached the influencers on Instagram and continued the correspondence by email. In turn, the participants agreed. They boarded the bus in April 2016 and helped the staff to make a story about Latvia by the use of their lenses.

Feedback had been given. It was detailed and encouraging. Thus, a two-day #InstatripLV had been hosted in August 2016. Because of this, #InstatripLV garnered 10 percent increase in the number of followers, while the second trip gathered 4 percent increase.

The keys of its success are as follows:

• The ardent staff, who comprehends that social media digital marketing as a strategy is an innate part of any destination’s marketing plan in this cyber era, is willing to fight the comfort of tradition and create a case for it. The new knowledge and obstacles keep the staff motivated and make them think outside the box.

• PR, digital and marketing teams are not separated. Budget is shared as one. Each staff member collaborates with each other on a daily basis, gathering a range of skill sets from local knowledge to data analysis.

• The staff taps into the right community at the right time. The members carefully researched the local Instagram community and engaged in active communication with digital marketers. Thus, tips and ideas have been exchanged for collaboration.

The Coming of Rezidor Hotel Group

One of the most dynamic hotel groups in the world has just announced that it is signing for its first Radisson RED in Riga in a partnership with the Astor Group. The hotel is going to be located on Elizabetes iela, which is in the heart of the city. It is going to have 220 rooms and is going to open by the year 2020.
