Libya: Stupidest War of All

The Afghanistan War is a stupid war.  The Iraq War is a stupider war.  And the Libya War is the stupidest war of all.  Why?  There is no sensible win strategy.  There is no end game.  And there is no exit strategy.  If the coalition forces do not kill or capture Moammar (some call him Muammar) Gaddafi (others call him Gadhafi, Gathafi, Qaddafi, Kadafi, or Kaddafi), all Hades will break loose in the Middle East and world.  The lame-stream media do not know what to call that crazy dictator!  Why don’t they just ask him to spell his name?  Stupid media.  Stupid is as stupid does.

I have said it time and time before: When you go to war, you must go to war to WIN.  If not, you are needlessly wasting time, effort, money, and lives.  Do not go to war unless you go to war to win!  The objectives of winning the war should be for the survival of our country, survival of our citizens, and survival of our way of life.  None of that is at stake with Libya.  President Barack Obama has absolutely no military training, experience, or knowledge.  He does not know how to fight to win a war.  A commander-in-chief (CINC) with no knowledge of warfare is like a sea captain steering an ocean liner with a broken rudder.

If our sole reason for going to war with Libya is to save the lives of the rebels, then why did Obama not send our forces into Iran when the Iranian rebels were fighting against their dictatorial government?  Obama was silent for days on end.  Then, when he did speak up, he sheepishly sided with the demonstrators, but we know he really sided with the dictatorial government.  How can he not side with the rebels for democracy and freedom in one country and not side with them in another similarly repressive country?

What’s Obama going to do when the people of Saudi Arabia revolt against their repressive government?  Will he support the repressive government simply because we buy a large percentage of our oil from Saudi Arabia?  The Obama administration does not have a consistent, coherent Middle Eastern policy.  We do not possess a winning foreign policy.  We just display a wishy-washy foreign policy.

Obama’s track record has been consistent.  He dithered and gave mixed signals of his support of the Egyptian uprising.  He didn’t know whether he should side with Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak, who stole billions of dollars of U.S. aid, or to side with the freedom fighters.  Obama did not display the kind of leadership that the president of the United States (POTUS) should display.  He again was indecisive as he is with Libya.  An indecisive president is a dangerous president.

When we withdrew from Vietnam, the North Vietnamese communists killed millions of political opponents in Southeast Asia.  When we pull out of Iraq, the same will happen.  Furthermore, when we pull out of Afghanistan, the killing fields will again be repeated.  Obama has gotten the United States into a no-win war in the Middle East.  It is all Obama’s fault that we will be mired down in this God-forsaken corner of the world.  All this is because of our insatiable hunger for Middle East oil.  We have the most oil, coal, and natural gas within the continental United States including Alaska.  Yet, Obama will not allow our country to use these petroleum resources.  How stupid can anyone get?

Obama has disregarded the recommendation of his Secretary of Defense Robert Gates who said that we should not conduct a “no-fly zone” in Libya.  Instead, Obama listened to his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who also has absolutely no military training, experience, or knowledge.  She is way over her head in her assignment.  In a recent North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) meeting with our coalition allies, she was quiet and didn’t say much.  What’s wrong with that picture anyway?  Isn’t it ironic that cut-and-run France is now taking the leadership role in the world and the United States is in a followership role?  It is very sad to see Obama relinquish the leader-of-the-world role to the French who have been shy of fighting any wars after their defeat during World War II.

So, they decided to go through the useless United Nations (UN) to get the Arab League to support such an action.  The Arab League came around to support a “no-fly zone,” but where is the Arab League in helping with implementing a no-fly zone?  They are nowhere to be found.  In fact, they are now saying that the coalition forces are going too far in bombing Gaddafi’s military forces and facilities.  The latest news is that the Arab League is condemning the coalition forces’ attacks.  What’s wrong with that picture?

We have a losing strategy.  Obama only wants our military to protect the lives of the rebels.  He has said that we would not deploy any ground forces.  I assume that includes small teams of Special Forces personnel.  Gaddafi claims that this will be a “long war.”  If the coalition forces do not kill or capture Gaddafi, this will indeed be another long war.  This may be Obama’s Vietnam (17 years).  It certainly will be Obama’s Iraq (9 years) and Obama’s Afghanistan (10 years).  Should Gaddafi survive this no-fly zone military effort, he will be a huge thorn in the world’s side after he starts conducting terrorist attacks throughout the world.  He will multiply the Pan Am 103 flight attack many times over.  Be prepared.

There is no way the United States can fight successful wars in three war zones (Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya) and win.  We do not possess sufficient warfighting resources in both men and equipment to fight three wars and win.  What’s going to happen when we are forced into wars in Yemen, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia?  Basically, it will be the start of World War III (or World War IV for those who consider the Cold War as the Third World War).

At any rate, Obama will not be able to blame this Libyan War on George W. Bush, for this one is Obama’s War.  He started it, and he will need to finish it.  This man does not know how to fight a war.  You don’t tell the enemy that you will not use ground forces.  That definitely empowers the enemy to gain confidence that he will be able to survive the “no-fly zone” and still overpower the rebels.  We must keep the enemy confused and guessing.  Every strategy and tactic should be on the table.  When you make the enemy aware of what you are going to do and not going to do, you have given your enemy the upper hand.

Defense Secretary Gates was against the “no-fly zone.”  Obama did not listen to him.  Hence, even though Gates should be directing the war, he isn’t.  Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen is calling the shots.  So, where is Gates as the war starts?  He goes off to Russia to talk it over with the Russians.  Where is President Obama?  He is off on another junket with his family to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in South America!  Every time there is a major problem, Obama flies off to somewhere on vacation to avoid being in the limelight of another of his mishandled problems.  The man is way over his head!

In summary, there is no doubt that the Libya War is the stupidest war in existence.  Obama should stay out of attempting to direct the war.  It is like employing a novice on warfare to direct a war.  We will definitely end up on the short end of the rope.  There should be no holds barred on conducting the no-fly zone in Libya.  Again, we never seem to learn from past wars.  We don’t even learn from what is currently going on in the existing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.  How stupid can we get?  Obama’s approach to fighting wars must not stand.  One day we are going to lose and lose big.  It is a shame that we have Obama at the helm of this farcical war.  May God bless the United States of America!
