The Wype Personal Desktop Snack Rag is a Sign of Our Times

If you have a habit of eating at your desk—and let’s be honest, we all do—then keeping those peripherals clean is a daily challenge. Well, thanks to The Wype, you may not have to suffer through that pain and agony anymore.

Billed as a “personal desktop snack rag,” the Wype is a patent-pending $12 desktop rounded dome ‘base’ that comes with three interchangeable covers for wicking away grease and crumbs from your disgusting food-encrusted nubs. And yes—it is currently on Kickstarter:

“The Wype was inspired by one of our late night gaming sessions when the Costco-sized bags of chips transformed from a tasty blessing to a curse – our keyboards and mice were covered in grease and crumbs,” explains Wype inventor Seth Konopasek. “When filthy pants and piles of napkins didn’t fix our problem, we began our search for a solution. We learned that “3 in 7 laptop owners were eating when they had an accident” and that our keyboards were 20,000 times dirtier than our toilet seat; realizing the need for a snacking solution, we broadened our vision to create a product that works for everyone.”

Gaming mice or 3D mice, the fact of the matter is, computer peripherals can get disgusting pretty quick. And while the Wype may not solve every problem, it’s not a bad way to start. Or just don’t eat at your desk…
