One of the things the parents have to start thinking about is buying shoes for their children when they turn over 2 months old. After that buying a new pair of shoes for them every 3-4 months. Although the exact period may differ in each case as it totally depends on the speed at which the size of the baby’s feet is growing in size.

Children’s feet grow at a very rapid speed and up until they become able to but their own stuff, the parents have to worry about buying shies among other things for them. There are a few questions that arise in every parent’s mind and today we are looking to answer those questions. They are:

The Fit

Getting a complete knowledge about the right size of the shoe is very important as if the shoes are not of the right size, it can cause many problems for the kid like bunions, blisters or calluses, hammertoes, ingrown toenails, and other toe issues. It is because the child’s body muscles and bones are not fully developed so when the pressure is applied wrongly due to the wrong size, the body changes shape and causes abnormalities.

– If there is a removable insert, then take it out and make the kid stand on it to have better look at the space inside the shoe, make sure there is at least half-inch difference between the insert’s top and child’s toe.

– If the insert is not removable, have the child wear the shoes and feel the toes from outside to see if there is sufficient space.

There are four-part of the shoes: the upper, the outer sole, the insole, and the heel.

Upper Part

The upper part of shoes can be made of many things like canvas, leather or others, you must keep in mind that the child’s feet will sweat a lot so something more breathable must be used in the upper part of the shoe like canvas or mesh and you must strictly avoid plastic for this reason

Outer Sole

You must also make sure the outer sole provides flexibility, cushioning and traction to the shows and try to avoid thick and rigid shoes.

Inner Sole

Make sure there are padding in the inside soles to make sure the child is comfortable. You must also ensure the inner sole is made up of material that is absorbent. The inner sole must be flat as children do not have arch feet until they are 16 months old.

Heels

As we are talking about toddlers here, there is no need to have a shoe with heels as toddlers do not have heels and have flat feet until they are 6-8 years old.
