D3072: Not another Sinopterus dongi. A more complete relative of headless Wenupteryx and SMNS PAL 3830

After DGS tracing and phylogenetic testing
in the large pterosaur tree, (LPT, 261 taxa) the D3072 specimen (Early Cretaceous China) nests in the Germanodactylus (Late Jurassic Germany) grade with similar-sized, but also headless, Wenupteryx (Fig. 2, Late Jurassic Patagonia) and a much larger, though far less complete specimen, PAL SMNS 3830 (Fig. 2, Early Cretaceous Brazil), known for its long curving claws.

Shen et al. did not mention Wenupteryx.
This nesting documents this subclade of germanodactylids was worldwide in distribution.

D3072
(Shen et al. 2021; Early Creaceous was originally considered a tapejarid. Here it nests with the incomplete SMNK PAL 3830 specimen and Wenupteryx, all three nesting within the Germanodactylus grade several nodes apart from Sinopterus.

SMNK PAL 3830
(the Crato “azhdarchid” Frey & Tischlinger 2000; Early Cretaceous) was originally considered an azhdarchid, like Quetzalcoatlus. Here it nests as as sister to Germanodactylus cristatus, No. 61. Distinct from and twice the size of No. 61, fingers I-III of PAL 3830 were larger. Manual digit III was longer than half the metacarpus and as long as the entire foot. The metacarpus was much more robust than manual 4.1. The foot, while appearing quite lethal, was actually much smaller, about a third of the tibia. A small patella was present. The penultimate pedal phalanges were the longest in each series suggestive of an arboreal habitat when not flying.
