Preparing a 72 Kit

In the event of an emergency or natural disaster, often it takes two or three days before assistance comes. If you have prepared a 72 hour kit for you and each of your family members, it can be the difference between surviving comfortably and putting yourself in a dire situation. I found on the blog Endless Crafting a good checklist for things that should be included in a 72 hour kit.

It is important that each family member have their own kit that is personalized to each individual. Also just as important is to make sure that they are updated annually. It wouldn’t be helpful at all for your 6′ 17-old son to have a change of clothes that were packed for 4’11″ ten year old.

Keep all the kits in a central location that is easily accessible. Along with the individual packs, be sure to store, water, blankets cash, and a binder with important documentation.

Hopefully, you will never have to use the 72 hour kits but doesn’t it give you peace of mind to know that it is there when you need it?
