Protection Dog Training Using a Clatter Stick

When training a dog to take commands, it is important to keep the dog totally focused on you so no orders given are missed or ignored.

A clatter stick is a great tool to use during training to teach the dog to become desensitized to the noises and the distractions in the surrounding environment, and learn to stay focused on you.

The Elite K-9 bamboo clatter sticks are 25 inches long, and are split length-wise into four quarters. The handle is padded to provide the use a better grip and hand comfort.

Once you have the dog’s absolute attention, you can then expand how you use the clatter stick during training, brandishing it in a threatening manner while shaking to obtain an aggressive response of barking and growling from the dog.

The clatter stick is never to be used to strike or cause injury or pain to the training dog, they are only an external noise stimulation tool to ramp up the aggression in an dog and to desensitize them to external noises and distractions.
