Authors Note – I have seen numerous comment threads and discussions where people mock and criticize those leery of the restrating of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which many believe not only restrating it is a bad idea with too many unknowns to hope to control that kind of power, but restarting it at double the power outlay as previously used, is asking for what could be an extinction level event. Some also believe this could literally open up the “gates of hell.”
Well….. it isn’t only “conspiracy theorists” that are talking about such things.

The possibility that other universes exist beyond our own universe is tantalizing, but seems nearly impossible to test. Now a group of physicists has suggested that the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the largest particle collider in the world, may be able to uncover the existence of parallel universes, should they exist.
In a new paper published in Physics Letters B, Ahmed Farag Ali, Mir Faizal, and Mohammed M. Khalil explain that the key to finding parallel universes may come from detecting mini black holes at a certain energy level. The detection of the mini black holes would indicate the existence of extra dimensions, which would support string theory and related models that predict the existence of extra dimensions as well as parallel universes.

It’s a bit more involved than that. Sure, sub atomic particles are colliding all the time. The idea is to create and harness the Higgs-Boson particle; which no one knows the true nature and power of this particle. It’s not like hitting a rock with another rock. The parallel universe theory is only one possible outcome.
The fact of the matter, Stallard, is that no one, not even the physicists themselves, know what will happen. That’s why you get all these “Gates of Hell” stories, and every silly theory that revolves around CERN. An unknown of this magnitude will always bring the crazies out to speculate. It’s all we can do, until it’s turned on.
If CERN project leader Dr. Faizal is quoted accurately, his statements further confirm how CERN has created an environment in which science has been combined with magical thinking and theories requiring miraculous events — a sort of pseudo-science that has been methodically documented in a recent series of articles in the on-line Journal of Binary Mechanics. See, e.g., “Higgs boson buries standard model.” An unbiased observer has to wonder how much of the one billion Swiss Franc yearly CERN budget may have influenced or perhaps even corrupted the scientific judgment of CERN research groups to the point that science is whimsically mixed with entertainment (the magical beliefs) and religion (the purported miracles).
The secondary science news media publishes any press release received without question, leaving no “quality control” from an “independent press” of any nonsense CERN and like large facilities want to promote to the public. If anything has been “proved” it might be how CERN research groups stand ready to mix science and fiction to provide science fiction entertainment, perhaps to keep the politicians voting to approve their budget and keep the paychecks flowing.
