Giants WR Corey Coleman Tears ACL, Team to Work Out Kelvin Benjamin

The hits just keep on coming for the Giants, as a day after wide out Sterling Shepard broke his thumb at camp, wide out Corey Coleman tore his ACL, ending his 2019 season way before it ever got going.

Coleman, a former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, signed a one-year, $2.025 million contract to remain with the team in March and was looking at his best opportunity in years, entering training camp as the No.3 wideout on the depth chart.

Now he will be sidelined until 2020 and becomes a free agent in March. Coleman just turned 25 years old but time is already running out on his career.

In eight games with Big Blue, Coleman started just once and racked up five catches on eight targets for 71 yards. The receiver was also New York’s top kick returner down the stretch, returning 23 kicks for 598 yards.

With two wide outs already on the shelf, the Giants on Saturday will work out veteran receiver Kelvin Benjamin.

Benjamin is the biggest name of a group of wideouts working out in hopes of joining the Giants’ depleted wideout corps.

A first-round pick out of Florida State by the Panthers in 2014, Benjamin started his NFL career out with a bang with over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns but has never really been the same since his own ACL tear in 2015.
