Former Patriot Tedy Bruschi suffers stroke

Former New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi suffered a stroke on Thursday.

His family announced the news in a statement Friday noting that Bruschi recognized the warning signs and is “recovering well.”

The 46-year-old also suffered a mild stroke in 2005 when he was 31 and still playing in the NFL.

Former Kentucky, New York Giants QB Jared Lorenzen dies at 38

Former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen, the school’s all-time leader in passing yards, died Wednesday. He was 38.

Lorenzen was admitted into the hospital over the weekend because of an infection and his family said he was experiencing cardiac and kidney issues. The family released a statement to Kentucky Sports Radio Wednesday afternoon.

Lorenzen was a four-year starter for the Wildcats from 2000-03. He has the most passing yards in school history — 10,354 — and threw for 78 touchdowns to 41 interceptions in his UK career.

He was nicknamed the “Hefty Lefty”  … Lorenzen, who was listed at 260 pounds when he played at Kentucky, struggled with his weight after his playing career was over.

Body of missing Swiss soccer player found

The body of missing Swiss soccer player Florijana Ismaili has been found, days after she went missing following a swimming accident in Lake Como, northern Italy.

Italian rescue services told CNN that her body was found at a depth of 204 meters on Tuesday using a team of divers and an autonomous underwater vehicle.

Ismaili, 24, was captain of the BSC Young Boys women’s team and had been missing since Saturday afternoon. Read more. 

Dolphins’ Norton has arm amputated after crash

MIAMI — Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton had his arm amputatedand remains hospitalized after a car crash in the Miami area early Thursday morning, his agent said.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho said the Ford F250 driven by the 22-year-old Norton crashed into a concrete barrier on State Road 836 near Miami.

The truck overturned and came to a rest on its roof.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews rendered aid to Norton, who had severe injuries to his left arm and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he remains.

“With sadness, I can confirm that Kendrick Norton was in a car accident last night and suffered multiple injuries, including the amputation of his arm,” his agent Malki Kawa tweeted. “We ask that you continue to pray for him.”

[Norton played college football at the University of Miami. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round (242nd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was waived on September 1, 2018 and was signed to the practice squad the next day. He was released on September 6, 2018, but was re-signed four days later. On December 19, 2018, Norton was signed by the Miami Dolphins off the Panthers practice squad. On July 4, 2019, Norton was involved in a car accident while driving on State Road 836, near Miami. Suicide Ruled Out In Pitcher’s Sudden Death

 It could take months to figure out the reason for pitcher Tyler Skaggs’ death, medical examiners say, according to Yahoo Sports.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner told reporters it would begin its autopsy on Skaggs on Tuesday, but it wouldn’t be completed until October.

According to USA Today, Skaggs’ family requested the medical examiner withhold the autopsy information until then.

However, examiners don’t believe his death was the result of a suicide, per The Fort Worth Star-Telegram … Read more.
