The Chiefs Open the 2019 Season in Jacksonville; Three Keys to a KC Opening Day Win

Last season did not end for the Kansas City Chiefs the way they or their fans wanted it to, as the club took the eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots to overtime in the AFC Title Game, only to lose at home.

Now they turn the page and get ready for the 2019 season, one full of promise and this time a chance to finish the job.

Many experts have picked the Chiefs to get to and even win the Super Bowl, and if you check the betting sites, you will see the team should be able to win the division once again and this time hopefully finish the job.

The first test starts in Jacksonville Sunday against a good Jags team that had a tough season in 2018 winning just five games.

Here’s some keys to getting a win for the Chiefs as they look to get to a fast start in the opener on Sunday in sunny Florida.

1. Start Fast

The Jags lost 11 games last season, and a quick way to make them remember how 2018 went is by getting on the board early and often.

Look for the passing game led by league MVP Pat Mahomes to come out throwing, and trying to test the Jags corners, who are the best players on the team led by loud mouth Jalen Ramsey. If Mahomes and the wide outs and tight end Travis Kelce can get in a groove early, the Chiefs should have a field day throwing the ball all over the field in Jacksonville.

2. Stay Focused

It’s opening day, the forecast for Jacksonville is calling for a hot day to the tune of 98 degrees, and if the Chiefs find themselves in a fight with the Jags, it could result in them losing focus and allowing mistakes to creep in.

One thing the team did well last season was stay focused on the task at hand, and even when things got tough during games, they seemed to be able to make plays and step up no matter the circumstances.

They have to make sure in those moments of testing to be the better more focused team.

3. Turnovers

The Chiefs are the better team taking the field Sunday, but one very easy way to allow the Jags to stick around is by giving them short fields with turnvoers.

The Jaguars will look to confuse Pat Mahomes and look to get him to try to force the ball and get a couple picks, a sure way to allow Jacksonville to stick around.

If the Chiefs play mistake, turnover free football, they should walk out of Jacksonville with a win.
