Browns DL Garrett Suspended Indefinitely Without Pay, DE Ogunjobi to Sit One Game for Fight in Steelers Game

It’s no shock that the fines and suspensions for Thursday’s wild fight at the end of the game between the Browns and Steelers would be harsh, and as expected Myles Garrett got the brunt of the suspension and fines by the league today.

The Browns defensive end was hit hard by the NFL, as he will sit the rest of the season without pay for going after Steelers QB Mason Rudolph with his own helmet with eight seconds left in the Browns 21-7 win over the Steelers.

Garrett likely will appeal the suspension, and today Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam put out a statement about the Thursday melee.

“We are extremely disappointed in what transpired last evening at the end of our game. There is no place for that in football and that is not reflective of the core values we strive for as an organization. We sincerely apologize to Mason Rudolph and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Myles Garrett has been a good teammate and member of our organization and community for the last three years but his actions last night were completely unacceptable. We understand the consequences from the league for his actions.”

While Garrett was hit with the biggest fine and suspension, another player that will have to sit for a game is Browns defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi, who was hit with a one-game suspension and likely will appeal.

One Steelers player has been hit with a suspension to this point, that being center Maurkice Pouncey who threw punches and kicks at Garrett after he was tackled by guard David DeCastro.

The teams also were both hit hard with a fine, as each team was hit with a fine of $250,000.

The Browns and Steelers will meet on December 1st at Heinz Field at 4:25pm.

Anyone who was watching the game and saw all of those replays can tell you this: Right after Garrett sacked Rudolph, and the two of them were still on the ground, Rudolph basically started the trouble by attempting to pull the helmet off of Garrett. Of course, Garrett reacted in a criminal way, and his suspension is minimal, but if the NFL wants the respect of civilized people, it needs to somehow discipline Rudolph.
