New York Giants Secure Win Ahead of Bye Week, But What Now for Joe Judge’s Team?

The New York Giants have experienced some lean years of late, making it to the postseason on only one occasion in the past decade, and the current season has not begun promisingly though their latest victory leaves Joe Judge’s side with a longshot of progress.

Losing their first three games didn’t help matters, but in this long season, there is the faint possibility of hope. Their win over the Las Vegas Raiders has left them 3-6 ahead of the bye week, and if they can put together a strong second half of the season, then a wildcard spot is a distant dream.

If you were a betting enthusiast AND a New York Giants fan, then maybe you’d want to sweeten the pot with a little bet on that progress occurring. The current New York Giants odds have them as big underdogs for their next clash, against Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay, where you can get a mammoth (+450) on an unlikely win for Judge’s men.

Another tick in the Giant’s favor is their remaining schedule where they go up against the Philadelphia Eagles twice, the Miami Dolphins, Washington, and the Chicago Bears, and none of those franchises has a better record than New York.

The pressure remains on head coach Judge and the media, and fans were left baffled by the excuse he used regarding their recent loss against the Chiefs, which he said was down to a faulty headset preventing him from barking out orders and instructions.

Fortunately, those issues didn’t stop the Giants from claiming a crucial 20-16 win over the Raiders, and Judge was keen to put those previous issues to bed;

“I’m not going to go into headsets, period, going forward,” stated Giants head coach Joe Judge. “I’ve had some conversations with the league, and basically, I’m just going to go ahead and stay off those issues and make sure anything that happens we do get resolved.”

The bye week will hopefully give the Giants a chance to get back left-tackle Andrew Thomas and running-back Saquon Barkley back from injury; it’s a hope Judge is counting on;

“I think we’ve got to give them an opportunity this week, Saquon’s been out of the building for the better part of a week, and that’s unfortunate because it was something he was pushing toward, really getting back on the field for us.

“We’ll look to get him out there and just make sure we check his conditioning and football movements and all that stuff in the week going forward with it and make sure he’s good to get back on the field.” Judge added.

Having suffered losing seasons in seven of the last eight seasons, perhaps a push for the postseason is a big ask, and one thing is for certain this New York Giants side is a country mile behind that which picked up two Super Bowl wins in five seasons under the guidance of Tom Coughlin and led by Eli Manning. A world away from where they stand in 2021.
