Lamar Jackson Hits the Links…
Happy Monday, Ravens Flock! It was a quiet weekend at the castle after all of the pomp and circumstances surrounding the NFL schedule release on Thursday, but we did get some news about a wide receiver that people have been clamoring for the Ravens to sign.
Jarvis Landry signing with the @Saints gives Jameis Winston another premium offensive weapon to join All-Pro Alvin Kamara, All-Pro Michael Thomas, dynamic rookie Chris Olave and Marquez Callaway. Adding the Honey Badger to a defense with Cam Jordan has the Saints ready to March.

With Landry landing in New Orleans to be another weapon for Jameis Winston, the veteran wide receiver market continues to dwindle. There are still some names out there that the Ravens could potentially target, but unfortunately most of those come with injury or age concerns (or both).

Not a lot of free-agent receivers left who can help the Ravens.
Will Fuller is a downfield threat but injury-plagued. Julio Jones is old. Odell Beckham Jr.’s coming off an ACL tear. https://t.co/ZwAbwQ9hSh

The good thing about those names still on the market though, is the “boom” side of the boom or bust equation. While there’s certainly a risk of bringing in a Julio Jones or a Will Fuller and them playing 10 snaps all year, there’s also the chance that they could end up being two of the bigger steals for someone this off-season. That risk is also likely to be reflected in their contracts, with cheap(ish) one-year deals probable to come. The only question now is, would those guys prefer to go to a more pass happy offense and have a greater chance of seeing a large piece of the pie in terms of targets?
#ravensflock maybe just maybe it’s going to be nobody. Maybe these UFDAs and current roster WRs prove no move is needed. 1600 players came out this year. Which means there is talent deep into UFDAs. Devon Williams, Slade Bolden and Makai Polk want to eat! Feed them!

Perhaps the solution to the wide receiver issue could even be right under our noses? People have been clamoring for the likes of Devin Duvernay and James Proche to see the field more often, and this could be the year that the Ravens finally acquiesce. With two years left on each of their contracts, the team owes it to themselves to see if they have something with them before allowing them to potentially flourish elsewhere.
For what it’s worth, I’d still take those two and Rashod Bateman over the 2019 receiver corps, where Lamar Jackson was busy winning a league MVP award by throwing to Seth Roberts and Willie Snead. Speaking of Jackson, could the Ravens potentially be losing him to a different sport?!

I joke of course, but there’s no denying that whether it’s football, golf, or table tennis, QB1 is going to do it with style. He’s certainly got the look down, and maybe Derek Carr will lend him some pointers on how to improve that backswing! At least I think that’s a golf term, I don’t know. If not, feel free to flood my mentions on Twitter to berate my ignorance.
I got you bro

That’s all for this Monday, Ravens Flock! Hopefully this week will bring us more noteworthy news, and potentially a new player or two in the process. Either way, let’s kick this week off right!
