Watch Out for Odafe Oweh in 2022

Hello and welcome, Ravens Flock! I hope you enjoyed another preseason victory for our Baltimore Ravens, who have now claimed 22 straight preseason wins! The train simply doesn’t stop for anyone, and it won’t be any time soon, either!

What’s new with the Ravens? Mainly lots of good news as many young players continue to stand out and look like budding stars in the making. It’s highlights galore for Baltimore, and we can’t get enough of it. Let’s go ahead and jump into the Twitter-verse and see what the Flock is going on about in this edition of Out to Lunch!

Tyler Huntley has taken the NFL world by storm this preseason with an insane 29/32 completion/attempt ratio for 238 yards and two touchdowns (zero interceptions) in two preseason games. Huntley has been so good, in fact, that there have been some MAJOR debates about Huntley’s true place in the NFL. What do I mean? See for yourself:

Huntley is certainly generating some major fanfare for his play thus far and was solid in relief for Lamar Jackson during his injuries in 2021. While Huntley was far from perfect (three touchdowns against four interceptions), he still showed competence to be a starting quarterback in a pinch and there are several teams who could do worse at quarterback than having Tyler Huntley.

Now I won’t entertain giving people the attention they desperately want by saying that Baltimore should trade Jackson and extend Huntley, but the latter certainly has some intriguing value. It would likely be in the Ravens’ best interest to hold on to Huntley, but a quarterback-starved team could call and give them an offer they can’t refuse.

Whatever ends up happening, we are thoroughly enjoying the Tyler Huntley show this preseason.

Another guy who’s having a massive preseason has been rookie tight end Isaiah Likely. Here’s a nice little clip of his massive game against the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday:

Likely reeled in all eight of his targets for a flat 100 yards and a touchdown on top of it. This is building off a performance against the Tennessee Titans where Likely caught four passes for 44 yards. Likely has truly been a massive difference-maker for the Ravens this preseason and has been one of, if not their overall best player so far.

If you have a set of eyes and have seen Likely play, you have seen how insanely good he’s been so far. The potential for him and All-Pro Mark Andrews to tag-team and give the Ravens perhaps the best tight end duo in the league is tantalizing.

Position aside, Likely is “likely” going to be a problem for opposing defenses in 2022.

We are all manifesting a breakout season in year two for Odafe Oweh, and Oweh seems to feel incredibly confident and comfortable with the game heading into 2022:

Oweh has stated that the game feels like it’s slowing down for him, which shouldn’t be too surprising given the learning curve that exists in the NFL. Nonetheless, it appears that Oweh is destined for greatness. Oweh has also been tallying his sacks in practices and apparently he’s going to get a billion with how dominant he has been.

In case you haven’t been able to catch any preseason games, know that Oweh has looked insanely good. Here’s perhaps his finest play so far, coming on Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals:

Sure, he missed the sack there, but look what his pressure resulted in. Even better.

Big things are incoming for Oweh in 2022. Baltimore might have itself a budding superstar in the making.

All in all, the Baltimore Ravens continue to roll right along this preseason and look like one of the best teams in the league, which is something we all knew prior to this. While we can debate all day as to whether preseason wins matter or not, but the way the Ravens consistently win these games and display depth and coaching to get wins is impressive. Baltimore truly has done an outstanding job building a competitor for the vast majority of the team’s existence, and 2022 doesn’t appear to be any different.

Enjoy the rest of the week, Ravens Flock, and I’ll see you next Wednesday to recap our final preseason game before the 2022 regular season kicks off!
