Expect Andrews to Have Best Game vs. Pats Yet

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Week 2 of the new season had some big surprises in store for fans and fantasy players across the league. The most important of them, of course, being the result of the Ravens–Dolphins game. Going into the game, we knew that the Dolphins are a respectable team this season. But no one expected Tua Tagovailoa to put up the historic level performance, that ultimately led to a three-score comeback win for the Dolphins. Tua threw for nearly 500 yards and six touchdowns, with over half of that yardage and touchdowns going to Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle. Leaving fans wondering, are the Dolphins that good or should there be genuine concern about the Baltimore defense?

Only time will tell, as the Ravens continue to learn & implement their new defensive scheme.

On the fantasy side of things, it was a very odd week where many top options had down weeks. It was very encouraging to see Rashod Bateman have another impactful performance, even with Xavien Howard in coverage. With two weeks of the season in the books, each week has told a very different story (Outside of the Buffalo Bills. They’re still kinda good.). All we can do is study the consistencies in what we have seen so far. So lets deep dive a bit into this weeks fantasy plays!

Ravens-Patriots Fantasy Focus

Start Em’

Mark Andrews

Andrews is going to be our play of the week yet again. Not that it needs any explaining, but he has commanded a 31% target share in the Ravens offense and a 16% red-zone target share. For comparison, Rashod Bateman has scored a TD in each of the first two games while having NOT A SINGLE target in the red-zone. Bill Belichick has done a decent job containing Andrews in their previous two games. But after a loss like this one, I expect the Ravens to rely even more heavily on their top receiving threat.

Nelson Agholor

With Jakobi Meyers questionable to play due to a knee injury, Agholor should be the next man up. Agholor is coming off of a 20 fantasy point performance where he caught all six of his targets for 110 yards & one TD against a solid Pittsburgh defense. He has garnered the 2nd most targets from Mac Jones (11 this season) and he may top his previous six targets this game as the Patriots will likely play from behind (but who knows after that Dolphins game…).

Agholor should be a solid streamer this week with boom upside if Meyers is sidelined.

Streamin’ around the league

Kirk Cousins

Cousins should have a bounce-back performance this week against the Detroit Lions. Coming off a game where he threw three interceptions, two of which belonged to his daddy, Darius Slay (Who won NFC DPOW). The Detroit Lions have performed shockingly well on offense, but not surprisingly horrendous on defense. The Lions have let up the 3rd most fantasy points to quarterbacks through the first two weeks. The trend should continue, as Lions top CB Jeff Okudah simply is not good enough to contain Justin Jefferson the way that Slay did. The Vikings have been poor as well on defense. So this game should be higher scoring than some expect and both teams will need to pass the ball to stay competitive.

Travis Etienne

Etienne has not been utilized as often as fantasy managers would like, but this could be his highest scoring week yet. The Jags take on the Chargers, who rank 23rd in fantasy points allowed to RBs. The Jags are seven-point home underdogs, so Etienne may see some increased targets. It is no secret that they will be playing from behind basically from kickoff throughout the rest of the game. If Etienne can show flashes of his elite shiftiness early in the game, I expect them to keep him involved in the passing game throughout the rest of the match.

Greg Dortch

Dortch is coming off his best fantasy performance of the year where to caught all four targets for 55 yards and a TD. That sounds a bit scary considering that without the TD, we are looking at a very different result. However, the Cardinals are playing the Rams this week. When you think about the Rams defense, you are instantly filled with fear of Aaron Donald & Jalen Ramsey. First off, there is a decent chance that Ramsey shadows Hollywood Brown (although Ramsey has been a bit susceptible to speed in the past). Secondly, the Rams have quietly allowed the 7th most fantasy points to opposing WRs and rank 28th in pass defense. Again, the game script should shape up nicely for the pass catchers and the young wideout has a solid chance to produce a nice fantasy performance.

Hayden Hurst

Our beloved Hayden Hurst is this weeks sleeper TE. Hurst has shocked us all with his level of involvement in Cincinnati, where he has been targeted 15 times through the first two weeks. The Bengals take on the Jets, who rank 2nd to last in pass defense. The game script may not favor the pass catchers, but Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed have been playing solid defense on the outside. With Chase and Higgins requiring a lot of the defense’s attention, and Mixon keeping the defense honest, Hurst will be an afterthought in the Jets defensive gameplan. Hurst should be able to get open often and provide a nice safety blanket if this underperforming offensive line is unable to slow down the Jets pass rush.
