Offense Bounces Back

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The winds were destructive on Monday evening causing many Marylanders to be without power. Thankfully, the air currents relaxed into a gentle breeze for the Ravens’ during the Tuesday afternoon practice. While Constellation Energy was trying to restore power to countless homes and businesses, the Ravens’ offense found some power of its own.

Here are some notes from field three:

Mark Andrews had one of his most impressive performances in training camp. He was on the receiving end of a Lamar Jackson touchdown pass down the field against the defense. In a one-on-one drill against Kyle Hamilton, the Pro Bowl tight end used his size to box out the safety for a nice touchdown snag.

● Today’s session was quite different from the interception pandemic last Friday. The quarterbacks were sharp. Lamar Jackson may have had his most accurate day throwing the football.

● The one place the offense did find struggles was the red zone. Late in practice, the Ravens worked in the red zone. The defense had all the answers. The defense shut down every shot to the end zone. Lamar Jackson’s only completions during this portion of practice came from gimme tosses into the flats.

Brandon Stephens was very impressive today. He can stick with receivers and he’s playing with confidence.

● The Ravens worked mostly on situational football. There was an emphasis on the two-minute drill.

James Proche had one of the most impressive catches today. From as high up in the air as he could jump he came down with the football with a beautiful toe tap to stay in the corner of the end zone.

● Pat Ricard left practice early – I’m not sure what that was about but he didn’t look hurt.

It was a relatively casual day at the office for the Ravens. The defense has been taking most of the wins in training camp, but this was one of the most balanced performances we’ve seen so far. The defense won the day inside the 20-yard line, the offense had big plays down the field. The quarterbacks and receivers made their presence known.
