Jets Release Initial 53 Man Roster for 2024 Season
After an offseason that felt like an eternity and a preseason that didn’t go much faster, the Jets have released their initial 53 man roster for the 2024 season. There were a handful of surprises but for the most part things went as expected.
Running back Izzy Abanikanda making the roster was far from a lock after the team drafted running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. A strong preseason from Abanikanda clearly impressed Jets brass.
Perhaps the biggest surprise, or surprises, came up front on the defensive line where Gang Green decided to carry three undrafted free agents. Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor made the club along with a pair of edge rushers in Braedon McGregor and Eric Watts.
Zaire Barnes and Chazz Surratt were believed to be in a battle for the team’s final linebacker spot and in the end, both managed to stick.
