Injury While Eating Leads To Urgent Care Visit

This has not been my best writing month ever…

Earlier this week, I was eating dinner when a cat jumped onto the arm of my chair and knocked my elbow, causing me to jab my own gums with a fork– I bled a couple of drops, but it REALLY HURT! I rinsed my mouth out, winced, finished my food– and the cat was screamed at and avoided me the rest of the night.

The next day my mouth was tender, but it wasn’t an issue, really.

The day after that, my gums hurt– the pain escalating to the point I took an old pain pill left over from oral surgery. I worried that it was an infection– the pain shouldn’t get worse over a day later!

The next day, my mouth started swelling up, then my cheek… yeah, we went to Urgent Care. I was feeling too awful for my normal doctor phobia to even make a dent in my decision-making process. Luckily, Cat was working from home that day due to a car care situation, so I had a ride!

I got antibiotics, anti-inflamatory pills, pain pills, and anti-nausea pills (because I get massively sick with narcotics.) A day later and the swelling is going down and the pain is nearly gone. I still feel gross all over and tired, but my face is getting better. I have several more days of antibiotic treatment yet to go, but I think I’ll be okay.

This weekend, we have to get our Thanksgiving food, and I’m behind because I was feeling so awful all week. Blargh!
