More Cooking!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Cat has decided to cut back some costs, and upgrade her quality of life, by cooking on Sundays. She cooks a dinner with leftovers for her to take for her lunches for most of the week, but shares what she makes with Tess and I so we have a nice Sunday dinner.

Cat’s done a couple of crock pot recipes so far, and today she did a fancy French mushroom soup recipe that was very rich and decadent with Chanterelles. Different for sure, but I enjoyed it with some white wine and chewy bread!

This evening I made some pot stickers with my own homemade sauce (not fussy– just lime juice, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce) which is always a hit. Last week I did an Italian thing with mozzarella sticks and red sauce and salad. I’ll be making mini tacos and jalapeno poppers later in the week. My goal is to make a couple of dinners for everyone each week, when Cat and Tess are working, so they can come home to a hot meal. I can usually count on a couple of days a week flare-free or mild enough to manage this much! We already split the dishes pretty fairly, and whoever cooks does NOT have to do dishes, which is nice.

Everyone was overly grateful at my efforts, which are made with kits and frozen stuff half the time. I just take the time to heat it up and serve it with a salad or something. But people get tired of scrounging for meals all the time, I get it.

We’re all hoping to make an effort at cooking more. For better food at less expense. Tess cooks a little, too– and I’m hoping she’ll join in the efforts once or twice a week too, when she’s home. She’s still taking off a couple of days every couple of weeks, but it’s not every week anymore now, and she’s been making sure to socialize more and come outside her room instead of hiding so much.

We’ll see how our new round of lifestyle goals go. Little by little, we’re trying to build up some comforts by helping each other out more– and a little cooking for our roomie family seems a great place to add to our efforts.
