The "Deep State" (and UFOs)

CNBC had this report today:

It corresponds to the thesis that there is government inside the government that is called The Deep State.

The CNBC piece mentions “Men in Black” and offers sustenance to this vast conspiracy theory that is running rampant inside social media and now even mainstream news media.

TLS [Times Literary Supplement] for August 9, 2019 (Page 3 ff.) has a scintillating article/review of six new books about conspiracy theories headlined as Modernity and the contributing rise of conspiracy theories.

The article is by Jill Lepore, Kemper Professor of American History at Harvard and an esteemed staff writer at the New Yorker magazine.

While I get a little distressed by conspiracy theories, including all the Disclosure nonsense, there seems to be some grist for a Deep State, awkwardly “supported” by the alleged fakery of the MJ-12 documents rampant in UFO circles.

Ms. Lepore’s terrific piece in TLS shows conspiracy theories are softened by an academic sobriquet for conspiracy itself: conspiracism, the tendency to explain events as the result of conspiracy.

The article will very likely not be read by anyone reading this, sadly.

Dominick, et al. are only fascinated by actual UFO material disregarding the idea that everything is connected and that the UFO phenomenon is impacted by discourse about it as scholar Bryan Sentes tells us.

I’m with Dominick on this, but extracurricular elements keep intruding on a study of UFOs themselves, beclouding investigation of the phenomenon itself, alone.

Anway, clearing away the weedy discourse about UFOs is not going to happen, so we have to contend with it, but I’m hoping some brilliant “ufologist” will forage a way through the diverse thicket(s) of obtuse materials and take us into an explanation of UFOs, and only UFOs.

Those conspiracy theories be damned.
