Zoam Chomsky’s rabid mantra that UFOs do not exist gets support, of a kind, from philosophy professor (University of Bonn) Markus Gabriel in his book (pictured).
The new book that I got this week (as noted here) is a plea for the new realistic ontology being touted by some rogue philosophers, the point of which is that postmodernism is dead (along with metaphysics and constructivism) and new realism takes their place or hoping to take their place among philosophers of the day.
Immanuel Kant, to whom constructivism is attributed, is lambasted by Professor Gabriel (and many contemporary philosophers also).
I’m no Kant fan; his convoluted philosophical prose offputting for me since my college days, and discounted by sensible intellectuals and academics all over the place.
But Kantian exposition is no worse, and considerably better than the ramblings of those advocating “new realism” including a guy I actually like: Slavoj Žižek
I replied here, to a comment from Bryan Sentes, how much I disregard and dislike modern philosophy – all philosophy from the Enlightenment period on pretty much – considering it a hodgepodge of linguistic mangling and intellectual madness.
Jacques Derrida, a favorite of mine, held this:

“Heraclitus: ‘Listening not to me but to the logos, it is wise to agree that all things are one.” [ibid, Page 57] This to the dismay of a reader here who thinks “all things are not one” – a modern view.
My point is that modern philosophy has lost its way and is engaged in conscious intellectual madness, thus providing no help in resolving reality and certainly nothing relevant to the UFO mystery, as Zoam’s articulated ramblings confirm.
But the “new realism” is with us and adding to the existential [in the current misuse of that term] problems we are all faced with.
Again, I concede that common sense is as good as academic rumination, and resorting to philosophy is not helpful, although one can find viable truths in the Pre-Socratics and Platonic/Aristotelian schools which modern philosophers have corrupted by distorting or “updating” that early Greek thought.
Gabriel’s suggestion that the world does not exist although the things in it do exist is a prime example of how insane thinking has become popular among academics and ersatz scholars.
N.B. I love Zoam Chomsky; it’s just his “UFOs do not exist and have never existed” dogma that’s at issue.
