Iffy?

My Facebook pal and friend Philip Mantle, the noted ufologist and publisher of the recent Calvin Parker Pascagoula books, is a bit irritated with me for writing that I find the new witness accounts corroborating Calvin Parker’s story of his and Charley Hickson’s alleged UFO abduction in 1973 as “iffy.”

As those who regularly visit here know, I am a Calvin Parker supporter. He did have a truly intriguing and extraordinary ordeal in 1973.

I find nothing about his account iffy; far from it.

What happened to him and his buddy Charles is not totally explained but does fall into a unique event that has the patina of UFO abduction all over it.

But, for me, when “witnesses” show up — I wrote “come forward” (which Philip doesn’t like) — now in 2019 but didn’t raise their hands in 1973, I find that troubling and iffy.

Philip castigates me for not reading their witness accounts, which I haven’t read — the new Part Two book not arriving yet — generalizing as I have, he makes a valid point.

I should have held my opinion until I’ve read what the new witnesses have to say.

But for now, when someone claims to have seen what Calvin and Charles saw (and/or endured) but held back in reporting their observation for over 40 years, if that’s what they’ve done, I’m suspicious of their account, which I have to admit is not a reasonable thing to do.

It’s just my skeptical nature and experience with people.

I come from a generation and milieu that usually accepts someone’s word, but when it comes to UFO reports, the pattern and history of witness accounts, long after the fact, become iffy, for a number of reasons.

But I promised Philip I would read their offerings and check back in here after I read the newer book.
