Black Lives Matter Protests In Tiny Towns... Even Mine!

I was just reading this article today about how the Black Lives Matter (anti-police brutality) protests ARE different than others like it more recently. For one thing, it’s hitting small towns. Greta Thunberg’s Climate marches managed to pull off something almost as good– but only for a day or two. BLM, by contrast, has been going on 11 days now (I think) and it’s spreading to include more and more small towns.

I literally just finished reading it when Cat suggested another scooter-session at this huge parking lot we found near-by. Eager to get out and work on my scooter skills, I agreed.

As we passed through Cedar Cove, there were over 100 protesters who were starting a march through the tiny downtown from the iconic courthouse! We beeped, waved, and made thumbs up signs in solidarity, but I can’t join in any of this with Covid-19 on the loose. (Already numbers of ill are spiking…) But it was a mixture of all races and mostly younger people– but some grandparents were out with their grandkids, and they were doing protesting where NO ONE does protesting. We’re a small tourist town out here!

So… I was touched and welled up and cried for a couple of minutes because it was really moving to see. My hope in humanity hasn’t been very high as of late. The Trump supporters were killing me softly, I swear.

What a crazy year this has been! Monumentally important on SO many levels. Amazing to be alive to witness history like this!
