7+ Inches of Snow For Us

Today I took a “snow day” to keep a fire going and keep cozy as inches of snow fell. We had 3 systems come in, one after another over 4 days (the last tonight into tomorrow) leaving about 7 inches of snow on everywhere– with more on the ground where the wind drifted it.

It was serious powder snow. We don’t get that at sea level on the west side of the mountains of Oregon and Washington. Our average is 1 to 2 storms with 1 to 2 inches per storm, if that! Two years ago we had 21+ inches fall on us and it was spectacular– and very rare! Last year we had one snowfall of several inches. This year, none until now.

So everything will be at a standstill up and down the valley corridor running from Portland all the way up to Seattle and maybe beyond– from Friday through Monday. Sunday night rain is coming to wash it all away again. I expect a royal mess!

But we’re fine. Due to the pandemic, we have everything we need anyway.

And I life a little real winter every year. One good snowfall is totally fine by me.
