After the Hospital, Mumsie Will Go To Rehab

Sometime late next week, Mumsie Monster will leave the hospital for a Rehabilitation Center. That’s sort of a stop-over place between a hospital  and home OR a hospital and a permanent Nursing Home/Care Facility.

I’m utterly unsurprised to discover they don’t expect my mother to ever go home again. Oh, they’ll give it a try, sure… That’s their policy I guess. Plus, my mother has made it clear she won’t cooperate easily. However, currently, she’s on 5 different pain medications, including IV Oxycontin. Right now, it’s not like she’s with it enough to even protest much, you know?

Which means it won’t be weeks or months before everything “goes down”– it’ll be DAYS.

So… my sister needs to come here to Heron Hold. Our guest room will be her room for now. That throws a TON of plans into disarray! At least as far as having private space for my guests to use! Which makes me feel… uncomfortable. I don’t want to be a bad hostess, but I also don’t want to resent my sister being here very soon.

However, all of that I can work out one way or another. We have a HUGE house, there’s space for everyone I think.

Now the other questions come roaring up:

~ What about Mumsie’s trash pile house? Who is going to deal with that?
~ What about transferring my sister’s services, money, etc over to a new location?
~ What about the sale of said home? Who gets the money?

I’m nervous as hell, but oddly hopeful as well…
