What The Media And NGOs Are Trying Hard To Hide From You

The word “fair” has just lost any meaning for us, Americans. I am appalled by the mischiefs going on these days, regarding the ExxonMobil scandal. I mean, I knew the government was doing business with oil companies and cashing in obscene amounts of money for letting the fat cats poison millions without any consequences… but I had no idea how much power corporations REALLY had over our country.

I`ve recently posted an article about the spill where I wrote about a bunch of things the media “forgot” to mention about the impacts of this incident. But in the past two days, I noticed that major TV channels (such as ABC, NBC & co.) are suspiciously quiet about the disaster. The clean-up process has just begun last week, still there`s not much fuss about it. And then I read this:

“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has had a “no fly zone” in place in Mayflower, Arkansas since April… and will be in place ” until further notice,” according to the FAA website and it’s  being overseen by ExxonMobil itself. In other words, any media or independent observers who want to witness the tar sands spill disaster have to ask Exxon’s permission.” (www.atheistnexus.org)

So ExxonMobil is controlling of the disaster area fly-zone, with the FAA as an official supporter. And that`s not all. Probably used to “own” people as they please, the Exxon representatives even tried to manage the visit the Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel was going to pay them, to investigate the disaster area and the clean-up process. Fortunately, that didn`t go as they expected:

“I explained to them I’m not here for a tour and I’m not getting in a van. We’re here on behalf of the State of Arkansas as the state’s lawyer, a constitutional officer empowered by the General Assembly to enforce our laws, and we’re here to conduct an investigation, not take a tour” (rt.com)

But even if they lost one battle, there are clear signs that they`re going to win the war. And they`re using the most outrageous weapons they`ve got. Just take a look at this and tell me you`re not getting sick to your stomach:

The National Safety Council awarded ExxonMobil with a safety award. To be more exact, the Green Cross for Safety! And you should hear the speech:

“It is evident that ExxonMobil is committed to excellence in safety, security, health and environmental performance (…)This organization is a wonderful example of the role corporations can play in preventing injuries and saving lives“

This is what council president Janet Froetscher said while presenting the award to ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson, according to RTAmerica. And she held this speech while the streets of Mayflower were flooded with greasy, intoxicating crude. I don`t know about you, but I just sat in awe, not being able to process this information. How can this happen in a democratic country? If this were the Soviet Union, where Stalin and his fellows received every single award there was, I`d at least try to accept it as a given. But to award a corporation who`s just destroyed tens of households and endangered the health of hundreds of citizens… this is simply unacceptable!

Unfortunately, the comparison with the Soviet Union is far closer to reality than we`d all like to think, especially when things like these come to surface:

So when a multimillion dollar company spills their crude all over Mayflower, it`s excusable. Just a tiny mistake that will quickly be cleaned up in just a couple of years. But if an environmentalist writes about government abuse on his blog, he goes straight to jail.

“Since August 2008, when I first arrived at the CMU, I have been trying to get answers as to why I was singled out to be sent there. Only now — three years after I filed a federal lawsuit to get to the truth — have I learned why the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) sent me to the CMU: they simply did not like what I had to say in my published writing and personal letters.”

In short, based on its disagreement with my political views, the government sent me to a prison unit from which it would be harder for me to be heard, serving as a punishment for my beliefs.”

Now after reading this article and putting two and two together… you tell me: what kind of a country are we living in?
