Batteries

The Rayovac Sportsman LED Lantern is powered by three D batteries compared to others of its kind that are powered by 4-8 D batteries. What’s advantageous to an LED lantern that uses fewer batteries is that you save money for needing less (you save even more if you use rechargeable cells) and the lantern is also lighter, less bulky so it’s easier to carry around.

Light

The lantern has 3 light modes: High, Low, and Strobe. On high mode, it produces 240 lumens and 90 lumens on low mode.

Run Time

As for the amount of time the Rayovac LED lantern can run continuously, it can run for 40 hours when on High mode and 90 hours on Low mode.

Overall Design

The design of the Rayovac Sportsman LED Lantern is compact and tough. It measures just 3.5 x 3.5 x 7.5 inches so it is really small and can be easily fitted in a ruck sack. The base, top section and side grips are made of rubber. The overall lantern is water resistant. The top can be removed if you want a floodier light – and it can be set on the floor or hang (there’s a hook at the bottom as well) to light a room or a tent.

Also, the Rayovac LED lantern is equipped with a green LED light that blinks every 5 seconds even when the lantern is off. This makes it easy to locate the lantern when there’s a sudden power outage.
