One of the biggest reasons people struggle with getting started on their food storage is because they don’t think they have enough space for it. This might just mean they need to organize a basement or spare room, or it might mean they need to get creative. If you are on a tight budget but want to help someone get started, you can wash out empty pop or juice containers (not milk) and fill them with clean water. Wrap them with some cute ribbons and a tag and it makes a good little present to get someone started with preparedness.

Having water stored is great, but it’s also important to have a way to filter water should you run out of your stored water. The Lifestraw is great for at home use or to stick in 72 hour kits. These make great inexpensive gifts at less than $12 per filter!

A big ticket item for someone special in your life, these water barrel towers are a great way to store a ton of water in a small space. You can stack barrels 2 to 4 units high depending on your system. You can order these with or without barrels in case you already have barrels in your storage.

A more industrial water filter solution is the Berkey. It can both filter and purify your water. For someone looking for an everyday water filter as well as an emergency purifier this is a great option.
