I have always been a bit cautious around police. Since I live in a neighborhood that is primarily middle, lower class I have watched many instances of excessive force used against my neighbors and the homeless, as a matter of routine. I have been threatened by law enforcement for filming some of their encounters that were excessive force. My brother is a former policeman who told me he would have no problem busting my head open if I was filming him during a stop that involved force. At the same time, my brother in law has told me he always tries to avoid use of excessive force. Both of these men are Chicago cops, just differently.
