Impeach, Cut Off Funds or Just Go Home

“You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately… Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!” Oliver Cromwell to English Parliament 1653.

If Congress is unwilling to use the power it has been granted by the Constitution and can’t do anything but propose a ridiculous lawsuit as an answer to the President’s continued violations of the Constitution; then Congress ought to just shut up and go home AND STAY ADJOURNED THE REST OF 2014.

What good is an opposition party if they refuse to use the power they have to oppose President Obama?

Congress has two constitutional powers that could be used to fight the President.

1. Deny the president appropriations

2.  Impeachment

We already know Congress doesn’t have the guts to use either one of these powers. Sure the Senate won’t convict the President if Congress bring forward impeachment proceedings, but that shouldn’t stop them from doing the right thing and challenging his actions and making the case publicly about the President’s attacks on the Constitution.

Sure the media will go nuts if Congress cuts off funding to the President’s efforts, but that also shouldn’t stop them from doing the right thing.

Since the GOP leadership won’t do anything constructive,  why don’t the House of Representatives just take the rest of the year off and adjourn until after the next election. For all of the good they are doing in Washington, why have a Republican Congress at all?

Think of the upside.

No more lame lawsuits.

No laws can pass that will cost us money.

No more sell outs to the president.

Since Obama will just “borrow” (according to Senator Dick Durbin) the power of Congress anyway when he needs to, and Congress won’t do anything about it, why bother even have our representatives even go to D.C?

Or in the words of Oliver Cromwell, Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!”

Congress for all the good they are doing, should stay in their home districts and just try to make the case to their constituents that anyone should even care who represents them in Congress.

Since they are effectively abdicating their Constitutional power, Congress’ attendance in D.C. seems a waste of everyone’s time..

So Impeach, Cut off Funds….

Or Just Go Home.
