Contra government – makes more sense?

Years ago, Ronald Reagan (not exactly a libertarian hero, I admit) said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the Government, and I’m here to help.”

Everything we see in this messed-up world today proves this statement has a lot of truth.

Indeed, if one chose to always do exactly the OPPOSITE of what the FedGov (and State governments, and local governments) encourages (and often orders) you to do, you stand a good chance of living a far better life.

(I’m not talking about running stop signs or stoplights, people. As the old saying goes, a stopped clock is right twice a day. (Or are there too few people old enough to understand that any more?) I am talking about things a wee bit more complex.)

Government says “send your children to public school,” then you should opt out and find virtually ANY other way to educate your children.

Government says “wear a mask all the time,” then you should strongly consider NEVER wearing a mask.

Government says “normal people don’t need an AR-15” then you should really think hard about whether your entire neighborhood home defense fire team should have AR-15s (or better), instead of just a couple of the ladies.

Government says “stay locked up and self-quarantine to keep from getting sick,” remember that fresh air and exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health.

Government says “taxes are the price we pay for civilization,” consider that neither massive organized theft NOR slavery (even part-time) is really civilized in any sane person’s eyes.

I would go on with a dozen more examples, but you get the point.

Government may CLAIM to exist for the benefit of all of the people of a nation. But in reality, it only exists for the benefit of those IN government and those who control that government – and it is NOT the “electorate” that controls a government.

Government may CLAIM to be an arbiter of truth and justice. But in reality, government not only lies constantly, it prefers and supports lies to truth.

Government may CLAIM to be a benefactor to society. But in reality, Christ Jesus taught the truth about government: “Then a dispute also arose among them [His disciples] about who should be considered the greatest. But He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles dominate them, and those who have authority over them are calledBenefactors. But it must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and whoever leads, like the one serving.” How tragic that 99% of those who claim to follow Him do not understand this. Or pretend that it only applies to “kings” and not to presidents, governors, mayors, commissioners, senators, or other legislators.

Again, it seems pretty clear that the less you listen to government, the better your life can be. For years, decade after decade, some government agency or another has announced “X is bad for you, and Y is good for you.” Until, ala 1984 the powers that be announce “X is good for you and Y is bad for you.”

Consider the recent CDC announcement, after more than a year of telling us to disinfect everything, that it is not necessary and “all for show.”

Whether we are talking food or medicine or virtually anything, the flipflops remind us of such folks as George H W Bush (“Read my lips, no new taxes.”) and virtually every Senator and Member of Congress since 1789.

Provided, of course, that you keep your contra-government sentiments and actions as low-key and quiet as possible. Stupid and crazy as governments usually are, they are cunning and self-serving.
