Beef for Barter: Could Long-Term Storage Steak Be an Investment?

On a recent interview with conservative show host Pete Santilli, Prepper All-Naturals co-founder JD Rucker described how a customer who had purchased tens of thousands of dollars of freeze dried beef had investment plans in mind.

“He told me that with a 25-year shelf life, he believes that anything he and his family don’t need for survival could be used for barter in the future,” Rucker said. “By his reckoning, beef will be a high-value commodity, especially the steaks that we sell.”

Network attacks are also difficult to trace, which means anyone can initiate them and anyone can be blamed afterwards.  With the increasing tensions between western and eastern nations the chances of a an attack are high.  And, corrupt government officials could also trigger an internet crisis and blame it on foreign enemies – Either to convince the public to go to war, or to convince the public to accept greater authoritarianism.

But Rucker warned that unless a family has a tremendous surplus, food shouldn’t be used for bartering except in extreme situations.

“If turmoil causes the supply chain to break down, access to food and water could be the difference between being independent and being beholden to government ‘solutions,’” he said. “As valuable as shelf-stable food will be, I wouldn’t be trading it for anything non-essential.”
