European Theme Parks You Should Visit

Everyone knows that Europe is full of history, countless landmarks, and natural beauty, as well as numerous diverse cultures and experiences.  But did you know that Europe is also home to many exciting theme parks you should visit?  Here are the must-visit theme parks in Europe.

Disneyland – Paris, France
Everything you would expect at a Disney theme park is here, making Disneyland Paris the most visited theme park in Europe.  From Sleeping Beauty’s Castle to tea cup rides, all the familiar Disney themed attractions, rides, shopping, entertainment, and dining are found at Disneyland Paris.  A separate theme park called Walt Disney Studios Park provides a peek at the Toon Studios and how Disney’s special effects are made.  There are also hotels, a golf course, and Disney Nature Resorts.  If you stay at one of the Disney accommodations, you can get early entry into one of the parks.
Hours: Approximately 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.  Check the website for any park closures.
Cost: Tickets start around $100 per park in advance.

Alton Towers – Staffordshire, UK
Another must-visit European theme park, Alton Towers is the UK’s biggest amusement park.  Alton Towers features ten roller coasters, a mini-golf course, a spa, hotels, and a water park.  The park also holds seasonal events such as Halloween Scarefest and a fireworks display at the closing of the season. 
Hours: Alton Towers Theme Park is open from March to November. The water park and hotels are open year-round.  Approximately 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Cost: Tickets start around $45 per park in advance.

Tivoli Gardens Park – Copenhagen, Denmark
Located in the heart of Denmark’s capital, Tivoli Gardens is another popular European theme park with over 20 exciting rides and more than 30 restaurants and cafes.  Tivoli Gardens Park also hosts various musical concerts, ballets, and games, making it a great place for fun for all ages.  Hours: Open mid-April to mid-September.  Approximately 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM.
Cost: Tickets start around $45 in advance.

Europa Park – Rust, Germany
Another must-visit European theme park is Germany’s Europa Park, tucked between the Black Forest and the Vosges mountain range.   Europa Park has more than a hundred attractions and shows, as well as seasonal events like Halloween Horror Nights, ice skating and historic Christmas market.  Europa Park is special because it has different themed areas for many European countries including France, Iceland, Russia, Switzerland, Greece, Luxembourg, and more, as well as an indoor sports arena, 4D cinema, and Grimm’s Enchanted Forest.
Hours: Approximately 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM during the summer, and 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM in the winter. 
Cost: Tickets start around $50 in advance. Children under 12 get in free on their birthday with valid ID.

Gardaland – Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy
Northeastern Italy’s Gardaland is a theme park with over 30 rides, including thrill rides, roller coasters, and kid-friendly rides, as well as fun shows and attractions.  There is also the Gardaland Sea Life Aquarium and several themed hotels, and Legoland Water Park will be opening in 2020.
Hours: Approximately 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM year-round. 
Cost: Tickets start around $55 in advance.

PortAventura World – Salou and Vila-Seca, Tarragona, Spain
Just one hour from Barcelona, PortAventura World is another European theme park you’ll want to visit.  With thrill rides and record-breaking rollercoasters, as well as kid-friendly rides and attractions, PortAventura Park is fun for the whole family, while Ferrari Land features new rides and car racing simulators, and the Caribe Aquatic Park is a great place to cool off from the Spanish sun.
Hours: Approximately 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM year-round. 
Cost: Tickets start around $55 in advance.
