The Grand Egyptian Museum, sometimes referred to as the Giza Museum or the GVA, is an amazing archaeological museum based in Giza, Egypt that will change the way you view the past. Built by the Egyptian Antiquities Ministry, the new museum will hold some 6 million artifacts from all over the past Pharaohs’ reign. The GVA promises to be a place of everlasting importance. However, before the museum can become a permanent fixture in the history books, it will need your help.
Although the primary goal of the GVA is the protection and conservation of its collections, the Egyptian Antiquities Law demands that the museum has a certain level of public access. That means that those who visit the GVA will need to have proper identification. Failure to do so could result in arrest and prosecution. If caught, the offender could also end up having their finger cut off.
To ensure the safety of visitors and help the police with their duty of care to the general public, the GVA requires that the identity of each visitor is registered at the entrance. This makes the museum an even safer place for you, the valued customer. Registration is free, however, the strict security measures are in place to prevent any illegal entries. These include random checks and photo ID scanners.
There are a couple of ways to get into the Grand Egyptian Museum. The main door is guarded, usually by a tour guide that explains the history of the museum to the people who enter. You can also use the public elevators. Otherwise, you have the option of waiting outside for a cab or you can hop on a shuttle bus if there is a lot of traffic.

After the guided tour, the Grand Egyptian Museum has two more kinds of visitors. Tour guides can take you through the various sections of the museum, but you will have to keep them company. Tour guides generally provide food and drinks while they are inside, so you may need a bit of help with getting around. You can take the intermission walkways that allow you to go through the different sections of the museum. This allows you to see the other side of the museum from the inside. If you want to enjoy the Grand Egyptian Museum without the aid of someone else, you can just take the elevator or the buses that can bring you around the museum.
On the second day, you have the opportunity to take a bus tour to the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. The Valley of the Kings features the sarcophagus of King Tutankhamen, along with other busts and sarcophagi. The Valley of the Queens is where the pharaohs were buried with their tombs. The Valley of the Queens is filled with the Tutankhamen’s belongings that are displayed in the museum today.
You may be wondering why the pharaohs were buried in the Valley of the Kings. There is an Egyptian myth that the pharaohs were buried there because they built the pyramids from debris that fell from the sky. There is also another version of the story, and it states that the pharaohs died from the effects of poisonous plague that was spread by the waters of the river Nile. No matter what the reason is that the Egyptians were buried in the Valley of the Kings or the Valley of the Queens, you can see the spectacular sites that are a part of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The two areas house many priceless artifacts from the ancient period of Egyptian History.
When you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, you will be able to see the very latest in technology as well as the very oldest items from the days of the pharaohs. Your family and friends will enjoy the Egyptian theme exhibits, and the interactive exhibits, video walls and sandstone galleries. This museum is the pride of Egypt, and the crown jewel of the Egyptian tourism industry.
