% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Snow and cold weather often come to mind when people think of Finland, a Nordic country located in Northern Europe. While Finland’s winters tend to be long, dark, and cold, its weather is surprisingly diverse. Thanks to warm airflows from the Atlantic Ocean and Baltic Sea, the summers are comfortably mild. So, don’t let the weather stop you from visiting this wonderful country.

In fact, the weather adds to Finland’s natural beauty. A trip to the country will bring you face to face with reindeer, forests, and pristine lakes. Plus, the locals are friendly, and there aren’t as many tourists as you find in other European tourist hotspots like Paris, Berlin, and Prague. Keep reading to learn all about the things you can explore on a trip to Finland.

Visit Casino Tampere

Whether you enjoy spinning the slots or playing table games like blackjack, Casino Tampere is worth visiting. The establishment is Finland’s second largest casino and is located in downtown Tampere. This city is Finland’s second-largest urban area and is famous for its restaurants, museums, and Nordic landscape. Casino Tampere awaits you after a long day exploring the city. The casino has over 20,000 square feet of floor space with 120 digital and video slot machines and four poker rooms.

If online gaming is more your speed or you can’t work a visit to Tampere into your travel plans, there’s no shortage of games to play at casino Finland. You can choose from games such as Def Lepard Hysteria and Temple Tumble, with the option of playing for money or in relaxed mode.

Visit Santa Park and Meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus

Although most people think of the North Pole when they think of Santa Claus, many people don’t have time to go there. However, there’s no need to worry; instead, you can visit Rovaniemi in northern Finland. The city is home to the Elf School as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus, plus many other Christmas-themed delights.

Two of the park’s main attractions are the underground tunnel that crosses the Arctic Circle and the Winter Wonderland experience. While there, you can learn to make gingerbread treats or go to the Calligraphy School to write a letter to Santa. The elves will even show you all of the mail they receive from around the world during the year. It’s a great way to get in the Christmas spirit any time of the year.

Check Out Olavinlinna

If you’re traveling with others, you’ll have to agree on the places to visit during your travels through Finland. However, we’re sure your travel mates will agree that Olavinlinna is worth visiting. The castle dates back to the 15th century and is located in the town of Savonlinna in southeast Finland.

The castle was built on a rock in the center of a pristine lake and is famous for its three gigantic towers. You’ll have to cross several creaking bridges to reach it, where a labyrinth of ornate decorations and quiet chapels awaits you. If you want to learn about the site’s history, you can take an hour-long guided tour while you’re there.

Sleep Under the Northern Lights

Finland is famous for being the land of the midnight sun for a good reason: the sun disappears for several months during the winter, but it isn’t completely dark. You can often witness a stunning, colorful light display known as the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights among the snow, moon, and stars.

There are several ways to see the Northern Lights without getting frostbite from the frigid outdoor temperatures. One way is to sleep in a glass hut or cottage surrounded by trees in the countryside. The fall and spring are the best times of year for witnessing these amazing lights.
