St. Patrick’s Day Traditional Dishes with Recipes
St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect time to make delicious dishes and unique drinks you might not get to eat any other time of the year. Serve up these delicious Irish recipes for an extra dose of luck on St. Paddy’s day. Don’t forget to get some Green Beer to go along with these dishes.
If you are short on time, buy pre-cooked corned beef from your deli and make some of these easy dishes:
– Corned beef stir fry
– Corned beef hash
– Reuben Sandwiches
– Corned beef and cabbage sliders
– Corned beef and cabbage eggrolls
– Corned beef and cabbage soup
– Corned beef tacos or quesadillas
If you are wanting to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day like the Irish do in Dublin, consider making one of the following dishes.
Print Corned Beef And Cabbage

1 Crockpot
- 2 lbs corned beef
- 1 head green cabbage
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 slices bacon
- 2 cups water

Turn a crockpot on high and place the water and corned beef inside of it.

Cover with a lid and let it cook for 4 hours.

Place the butter in the skillet and put the bacon in it and cook it until it’s brown.

Chop up the bacon and the head of cabbage and place them into the crockpot.

Turn down the heat to low and let the ingredients cook, covered, for an additional 3 hours.

Once the meat is done, take a fork and shred the corned beef.

- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Combine the baking powder, baking soda, flour, margarine, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Mix in the egg and 1 cup of the buttermilk.

Lightly flour a baking sheet and place the dough on top. Shape the dough so it is round.

Grease a baking sheet and put the round dough on top of it.

Combine the remainder of the buttermilk and the melted butter in a bowl. Brush the top of the dough with it.

Place the baking sheet with the dough on it in the oven.
-
Let it cook for 40-45 minutes. When it’s cool, cut an “X” into the top of it using a knife.

- 4 oz cream cheese
- 4 cups frozen mixed vegetables (corn,carrots,peas)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups cooked mashed potatoes
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup beef gravy
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Place the ground beef in a skillet and brown it along with the onions.

Cube the cream cheese and mince the garlic. Place both of those ingredients in a bowl and mix in half of the shredded cheese and the potatoes.

Place the ground beef, mixed vegetables and gravy into a baking dish.
-
Spoon the potato mixture on top of it and smooth the top of it with a spatula.

Pour the remaining shredded cheese on top. Bake for about 20 minutes.

- 1 lb russet potatoes
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium white onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups shredded green cabbage
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper

Rinse and peel potatoes.

Add to boiling water and cook until fork tender (about 15 to 20 minutes.)

In a different pan cook your bacon until crispy.
-
Take out and drain on a paper towel.
-
In bacon drippings, cook onions and leeks on medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
-
Add garlic and cook for 2 to 3 additional minutes.
-
Add cabbage and cook 6 to 10 minutes until tender.
-
Drain potatoes. Mash in a bowl with milk, butter and olive oil. Mix until combined.

Stir in bacon, cabbage, onion and leeks into potatoes.

- 8 oz self rising flour
- 2 oz butter
- 1 oz sugar
- Raisins

Rub flour and butter together, until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
-
Add in sugar and mix with 1 egg and 5 tablespoons of buttermilk.

Bake in a very hot oven, top shelf, for about 15 – 20 mins at 180°C/355°F
