Scalia: Foul Play or Natural Causes? (TRUNEWS)

(TRUNEWS) As previously reported by TRUNEWS, 79-year-old U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday in a luxury resort in West Texas, but could foul play have been involved?

After conducting analysis of the available information, these are a few points of interest.

The Official Story

The San Antonio Express-News reported that Justice Scalia was found dead in his bed at the Cibolo Creek Ranch at approximately 11:30 a.m. by Houston businessman John Poindexter, who owns the 30,000 acre luxury ranch.  In an interview with the outlet, Poindexter said that “we discovered the judge in bed, a pillow over his head. His bed clothes were unwrinkled, he was lying very restfully. It looked like he had not quite awakened from a nap.”  In a separate interview with the New York Times, Poindexter expanded further by saying “his hands were sort of almost folded on top of the sheets, the sheets weren’t rumpled up at all.”

Poindexter also inferred to the San Antonio Express-News that he checked Justice Scalia’s pulse upon finding him in his bed, noting that did not have a pulse and his body was cold. After consulting with a doctor at a hospital in Alpine, he concluded that resuscitation would have been futile, and then contacted federal authorities. He was then given instruction to secure the site, which was under lock down until Sunday morning, and the Fed’s flew into the remote West Texas ranch by helicopter.

After interviewing federal officials, the Washington Post reported Sunday that after Scalia’s body was found, it took hours for authorities to find a justice of the peace. Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara was eventually reached, and she pronounced Justice Scalia dead of natural causes, even though she had not seen the body. Judge Guevara also decided at that time not to order an autopsy. David Beebe, a Presidio County justice of the peace, told the San Antonio Express-News that he initially ignored the call, assuming it was an illegal immigrant.

“Typically, when we get a call from that area of the county, it’s somebody who’s been found in a field who’s been sitting there for two months or so, found by a hunter, oftentimes an other-than-Mexican undocumented immigrant who died in the desert,” Beebe said.

WaPost reported that Juanita Bishop, another justice of the peace in Presidio who was called but couldn’t get to Scalia’s body in time, said she would have ordered an autopsy.

In a phone interview with WaPost Sunday, Judge Guevara acknowledged that she pronounced Scalia dead by phone without seeing his body. She said that she instead spoke to law enforcement officials at the scene, who assured her “there were no signs of foul play”.

Judge Guevara also mentioned that she had spoken to Justice Scalia’s physician in Washington, who said that the 79-year-old justice suffered from a host of chronic conditions.

“He was having health issues,’’ Guevara said, adding that she is awaiting a statement from Scalia’s doctor that will be added to his death certificate when it is issued later this week.

Guevara also rebutted a report by a Dallas TV station that quoted her as saying that Scalia had died of “myocardial infarction.” In an interview with The Washington Post, she said she meant only that his heart had stopped.

“It wasn’t a heart attack,” Guevara said. “He died of natural causes.”

In a statement Sunday, the U.S. Marshal Service said that Justice Scalia had declined a security detail while at the ranch and that upon news of his death Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Western District of Texas responded immediately.

Texas Law on Dead Bodies and Autopsies

According to Texas Law, two or more are required to sign off on a cause of death. This is noted in Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 49 “Inquests Upon Dead Bodies”, Subchapter A.  “Duties Performed by Justices of the Peace.”

Art. 49.04. DEATHS REQUIRING AN INQUEST.

(a) A justice of the peace shall conduct an inquest into the death of a person who dies in the county served by the justice if:

(4) the circumstances of the death indicate that the death may have been caused by unlawful means;

(6) the person dies without having been attended by a physician;

Art. 49.09. BODY DISINTERRED OR CREMATED.

(a) If a body or body part subject to investigation under Article 49.04 of this code is interred and an authorized person has not conducted an inquest required under this subchapter, a justice of the peace may direct the disinterment of the body or body part in order to conduct an inquest.

In Section 8 and 9, Article 49.25 Medical Examiners, Subchapter B. Duties Performed by Medical Examiners, the statutes regarding removing the body and conducting an autopsy are explained:

Sec. 8. REMOVAL OF BODIES. When any death under circumstances set out in Section 6 shall have occurred, the body shall not be disturbed or removed from the position in which it is found by any person without authorization from the medical examiner or authorized deputy, except for the purpose of preserving such body from loss or destruction or maintaining the flow of traffic on a highway, railroad or airport.

Sec. 9. AUTOPSY. (a) If the cause of death shall be determined beyond a reasonable doubt as a result of the investigation, the medical examiner shall file a report thereof setting forth specifically the cause of death with the district attorney or criminal district attorney, or in a county in which there is no district attorney or criminal district attorney with the county attorney, of the county in which the death occurred.”

These are public records and require a Court Order for them to be “sealed”, and in order to determine and confirm a heart attack as the cause of death, tissue from the heart and other areas must be taken.

It is possible that the autopsy was not conducted and local statutes were relaxed due to budget constraints and judicial overload in the region? Yes. Many border communities are drowning from the economic burdens associated with the large influx’s of illegal immigrants over the porous southern border. One such burden is dealing with those who die making the perilous journey across the West Texas desert, which has left large amounts of dead bodies for the local authorities to process.

But for a high-profile death such as Justice Scalia, authorities would presumably make accommodations and conduct a necessary autopsy, if for nothing more than to quell fears and the proliferation of “wild theories”.

Heart Attack Gun

Why do these irregularities matter? Why is it important to determine the exact cause of Justice Scalia’s death, whether it be from heart attack, natural causes, or murder?

During the United States Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence actives, also known as the Church Committee hearings, a weapon dubbed the CIA’s “Secret Heart Attack Gun” was exposed in congressional testimony. The officials said that the assassination weapon shoots a small poison dart which is capable of penetrating clothing, and delivering a lethal poison to the bloodstream which causes a heart attack. They noted that because the dart disintegrates upon entry and only leaves a tiny red dot on the skin, autopsies are very unlikely to detect that the heart attack resulted from anything other than natural causes.  This technology was available in 1975, almost 40 years ago.

Did Obama Know Before Public?

The website DC Whispers reported that based on information from a trusted source, Obama knew about Scalia’s death well before it became public knowledge.

Excerpt from their statement:

“Word reached the White House hours before formal media announcements were made regarding longtime Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia having been found dead while vacationing at a Texas resort. First the speechwriters were summoned to provide the appropriate tone for Barack Obama’s remarks.”

“During that same time, Obama and Valerie Jarrett were already initiating a long-standing plan for what they viewed as a prime opportunity to make Mr. Obama relevant once again and an opportunity that the President was said to be thrilled to have before him.”

Drudge’s Supreme Court Warning

The last point of intrigue in this case brings us back to the ominous words from Matt Drudge about looming media censorship in his Oct. 2015 interview with Alex Jones of Infowars.

During the appearance, Drudge said “I had a Supreme Court Justice tell me it’s over for me, they’ve got the votes now to enforce copyright law, you’re out of there. They’re going to make it so you can’t even use headlines.”

Though Drudge never named which Justice approached him, later analysis from Jones inferred that it was one of the conservative bulwarks, potentially Justice Scalia. Rick Wiles of TRUNEWS discussed the ramifications of this revelation here.

TRUNEWS reported in Jan. 2016 that attempts to judicially censor media inside the United States are already underway, like South Carolina Bill H. 4702 which would establish a state-controlled licensing system for news writers and media outlets.

Under the system, reporters would face criminal penalties raging from a $50 fine to work suspension, for disregarding what a government controlled regulation board considers a breach of truth, accuracy, objectivity, impartiality, fairness, and public accountability.

Conclusion

With the Death of Justice Scalia, the nation’s highest court now consists of four conservatives and four liberals. If President Obama is successful in pushing his nominee through the confirmation process, the Supreme courts balance will be tilted toward progressive reform.

His death may also open the door for a new push against freedom of speech and alternative media news reporting, using the very court system established to protect these rights.
