Trump Praises Grand Jury a Bit Too Soon

(FixThisNation.com) – Former President Trump praised the Manhattan grand jury weighing on the hush money payment investigation a week after he had claimed that he was going to be arrested in connection to the probe. Trump proceeded to say that the “evidence is so overwhelming in my favor” in the case of the hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential elections.
On Wednesday, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social to note that he had “gained such respect for this grand jury, & perhaps even the grand jury system as a whole.” This post came a little over a week after he had claimed that he would be arrested in connection to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) probe.
A spokesperson for Trump disclosed that the district attorney’s office had not informed Trump that he would be arrested. But that Trump had made his statement based on “leaks.”
Earlier this month, the grand jury made a request for Trump to come in and testify. In doing so, they fueled speculation that the case was reaching its end and that potential charges would be filed soon.
It appears as though that speculation wasn’t too far off the mark, and that Trump’s praise came a bit too soon. On Thursday, March 30th, the Manhattan grand jury voted. Before the vote, they heard additional testimony from an additional witness. Not long after, they announced that the jury had decided to indict Trump.
Public sentiment is mixed, with many politicians taking a neutral stance. Many claim the process will be fair and that Donald Trump will go through the same legal system as every other American. Trump himself immediately released a statement voicing his disappointment in the NY DA as well as the Biden administration.
