This type of headpiece is obviously covering the large craniumof Neferneferuaten Nefertiti, the Great Royal Wife of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten.

This particular piece may be the smoking gun that these individuals with elongated craniums did not bind their heads to achieve this look, as young children are depicted with large heads and it would seem it would take a longer period of time to shape a skull through the binding technique.
