Only weeks after telling the world that there are no asteroids or comets near to Earth, NASA is now saying that a massive asteroid 86666 (2000 FL10) will have a close fly-by 48 hours from now. This massive asteroid is approximately 1 mile wide and if it were to hit the planet, it could have catastrophic consequences.

It should fly safely past earth on Saturday, but astronomers are keeping a close eye on 86666 (2000 FL10) which, according to NASA, will be one of the biggest to pass close to our planet in recent times.
The giant lump of rock is currently hurtling through space at 40,000 miles an hour. The asteroid’s exact size is still unclear though it is estimated to be between 0.7 miles and 1.6 miles wide – more than 15 times bigger than other asteroids currently on NASA’s radar.
A collision would be nothing short of catastrophic, with the rock fragment thought to be around a quarter of the size of Mount Everest.
NASA has released an animated projection of the asteroid’s path, which you can watch below. 86666 appears from the top left of the screen as it nears Earth’s orbit.

Hot on the heels of finding water on Mars, the scientists are now preparing to make a massive announcement about Pluto, the news expected to be that it too has water, raising the potential for life not only further out in the universe, but right here, in our very own solar system. Could we even be getting ready for the announcement of alien life?
ONE of NASA’s principal investigators has let slip the space agency will be making another huge announcement this week regarding Pluto.
And if Dr Alan Stern’s comments to a packed hall at the University of Alberta in Canada are anything to go by, we might very well be talking about alien life forms.
According to The Guardian, Mr Stern was showcasing the highest resolution photos of Pluto and its largest moon, Charon, when he made some huge announcements.
“This world is alive,” he said.
“It has weather, it has hazes in the atmosphere, active geology.”

This asteroid will pass 25 million kilometers from us. The absolute closest FL10 could ever come to the Earth is 12 million kilometers.

NASA did NOT announce finding water on Mars. They claimed there was at one time a possibility of flowing water according to some images they showed. There has NOT been any announcement of water on Mars.

… now notice how the Asteroid catches up and overtakes Earth which seems strange considering it orbits the Sun at more than 65,000 mph and the Asteroid is only doing 40,000 mph. Wouldn’t the impact speed be minus 25,000 mph. Minus: oh my goodness we’re doomed!
