A tsunami alert had been issued after a massive earthquake, initially reported as an 8 magnitude, hit Papua New Guinea.

The tsunami threat was soon cancelled by the New Zealand Civil Defence office.

This is the latest in a series of earthquakes measuring 7+ magnitude in size, with recent quakes hitting New Zealand & The Soloman Islands. The question is what is the cause of the uptick in activity around the ring of fire?

Todays quake, as reported by USGS, occurred at a depth of 103km.

The depth of the earthquakes in the Solomon Islands is what peaked the interest of our friend, author, researcher & leading voice on all things CERN, Mr Anthony Patch.

Over the years we have worked with Tony, he has spoken of, as have other physicists out there such as Stephen Hawking, strangelet production and the dangers that carries.

The following video contains the information that Anthony shared with us last week on The Kev Baker Show. In the clip he describes how we may be seeing the signs of strangelets having escaped the confines of the LHC at CERN and making its/their way to the centre of the planet. Interesting to not the location of todays quake. It comes near to the antipodal point on the planet from CERN. Just saying!

Lets continue to monitor the activity around the ring of fire in the coming hours & days as i dont see this uptick in activity wearing off anytime soon.

This increased seismic activity comes at a time when the sun itself is entering a quite period. Just the other night on the show we covered an article that made a case for the earth being on course to enter into a new “Maunder Miniumum” period, also known as a mini-ice age.

NASA has recently captured images of a nearly spotless Sun — which means our star is in its lowest activity level since 2011.

Mail Online reported that looking at the images taken by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, the Sun is almost on its “cue ball” mode, barely showing few spots on its surface. This surprised the scientists since the solar minimum should not actually happen until 2021, based on its latest activity peak in 2014.

This follows the 11-year pendulum-like solar cycle, wherein the Sun arrives to a solar minimum at one end (with the least number of sunspots and flares) and solar max on the other end (which brings the highest number of sunspots and solar storms).

The NASA researchers, who expected bigger sunspots in the middle of the cycle, apparently found otherwise. The space agency added that the number of sunspots are even decreasing rapidly than before.

This followed the Sun’s quietest period in late June of this year, which apparently never happened for more than a century. We are currently on the 24th cycle that started in 2008.
This behavior, however, is not unusual for the Sun. But if the trend continues, experts have warned that this could eventually prompt the Earth to experience “mini ice age.”

We know that there is a connection between what happens on the sun, i.e. coronal mass ejections & earthquakes/volcanic activity here on earth.
