MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – A powerful fire occurred on Saturday at the Sidor transforming substation in the Venezuelan state of Bolivar, El Nacional news portal reported.

The videos from social media published by the portal show a fire and a black pillar of smoke above the electrical substation located near the state capital of Ciudad Bolivar.

CARACAS (Sputnik) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has said that a cyber attack was carried out against one of the country’s energy facilities on Saturday, not permitting the authorities to restore electricity that had been interrupted earlier in the week.

“Today we have restored power supply in 70 percent of the country’s territory, but at noon, another cyber attack was committed against one of the facilities, which until then had been working perfectly. For this reason, all the progress we had achieved by mid-afternoon was interrupted”, Maduro said in Caracas on Saturday.

The ongoing failure of Venezuela’s Electrical Grid has already caused over 1,000 deaths, with experts projecting ONE MILLION DEAD in the next 7 days.

When electricity failed from the main Hydroelectric Plant in Venezuela, it set in-motion what appears to be a Cascade Failure of the country’s entire electrical grid.

As power companies tried to restore power, major electrical sub-stations began blowing up because of the surging demand and improper design/maintenance.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro says power recovery will come ‘little by little’

Caracas (CNN)In a televised address Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said the recovery from power outages will be “little by little,” adding the outage was an “electronic coup” carried out by “criminal minds.”

Maduro blamed the US for attacking the power structure, saying the “imperialist government of the United States ordered this attack,” but offered no proof for the claim.
School and work in the country will be suspended for another 48 hours, Maduro said Monday.
