1. Hulk Hogan Gets Pinned Clean by The Ultimate Warrior

Going into WrestleMania 6, the smart money was on Hulk Hogan. Since his first championship in 1984, when he beat The Iron Sheik, Hogan had never lost a clean match. This is why it was shocking when The Ultimate Warrior beat him cleanly with a Big Splash and press slam.

2. Roddy Piper Returns

WWE fans were shocked to see the return of Roddy Piper at WrestleMania 19. The moment seemed totally random, given the build toward the matchup between Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan for that year’s event.

It was during the middle of this showcase match, while both Hogan and McMahon were down, that Piper stepped into the ring. The crowd went nuts as he spat on the two men, then smacked Hogan in the head with a pipe. The moment was shocking and totally cool.

3. Mick Foley and Edge Go Through Flames

Fans expected any match featuring Mick Foley vs. the Edge to be brutal. Yet nothing could have prepared them for this moment.

The match had already included barbed wire and thumbtacks, but the crowd was shocked when Lita suddenly doused a table with lighter fluid and set it on fire. The match then got out of control when Edge speared Mick Foley through the ropes, both men tumbling onto the table and through the flames.

4. Hulk Hogan Walks Out as Champ at WrestleMania 9

At this point in his career, Hogan had been relegated to the mid card, having faced a number of challenges, including allegations of performance-enhancing drug use. He had simply come out to the ring to check on his friend Bret Hart after Mr. Fuji had thrown salt into Bret’s eyes.

Mr. Fuji began taunting Hogan, and Yokozuna challenged him to fight, so Hogan climbed into the ring and promptly defeated Yokozuna in the impromptu match. Hogan exited triumphantly, quickly returning to the top of the card.

5. Miss Elizabeth Returns

This was truly one of the most shocking and emotional moments in WrestleMania history. Following a match between the Ultimate Warrior and Macho King Randy Savage, the announcer pointed out that Miss Elizabeth was seated in the crowd.

After Savage lost the match and was down, his manager Queen Sherri started kicking him, prompting Elizabeth to run to the ring and pull Sherri off him. It was so emotional because Randy and Elizabeth hadn’t seen each other in a couple of years.

6. WrestleMania XXX

This was the moment that featured The Rock, Hulk Hogan, and Steve Austin. These three had never been in the same ring together before, aside from a throwaway moment.

10. The Ultimate Warrior’s Return at WrestleMania 8

Vince McMahon fired The Ultimate Warrior at Summerslam 1991, and he seemed to have disappeared. So it was shocking to hear The Ultimate Warrior music cue during a WrestleMania 8 match when Hulk Hogan was being double teamed by Sid Justice and Papa Shango.

Warrior cleaned house, posing with Hogan at the end of the match. Fans loved seeing the two icons together in the ring.

The love didn’t last long though. Warrior was again fired later that same year.
