While this diet might sound delicious, it’s extremely restrictive. It might cause some initial weight loss but it won’t be sustainable for long.
2. The Ice Cream Diet
Just like the cookie diet we mentioned first, the ice cream diet sounds appealing, but it won’t lead to any sustainable weight loss. Participants in this diet eat predetermined services of ice cream each day.
This ice cream is made from coconut milk and honey. Those ingredients do have health benefits, but weight loss comes with time and a diverse menu of healthy foods.
Any program that limits to you to one food (even if it’s ice cream or cookies) is too restrictive and you likely won’t make it past the second day.
3. The Baby Food Diet
This one might sound like a joke, but there are actually people who claim to have lost weight by eating nothing but baby food.
The idea here is that baby food is less calorically dense, so you’ll lose weight quickly. While that might be true, you can’t go on eating baby food for the rest of your life, so your bad eating habits will likely creep right back into your life.
4. Master Cleanse
Celebrities such as Beyonce have made the master cleanse famous. On this cleanse you don’t eat anything. All you’re allowed is a drink made up of lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. This claims to work by being extremely low calorie and having ingredients like the cayenne that speed up your metabolism.
This program isn’t sustainable, and you’re starving your body of precious nutrients. You’ll be starving yourself, and you’ll likely gain any weight lost right back.
5. Cabbage Soup Diet
This is a short-term diet where participants eat nothing but a low-calorie cabbage soup for seven days. This one claims to work by giving you enough nutrients from the cabbage, but still filling you up because you drink as much soup as you possibly can.
Like every other diet here, this won’t lead to long-term weight loss. Your body might drop off a quick five pounds, but that will come right back as soon as you start eating normally again.
