Big Funeral

People love playing the game of Life, but what about a game of death? Macabre fun abounds in the 1964 game Big Funeral as you try and throw festive funeral parties to earn tombstones and hearses to get the best grave. You’re still alive, but not for long.

Everyone wants a big funeral, but you can destroy players and get them sent to the poor cemetery in an old pine box. In the end, you revel in the notion that your eternal resting place would make the Pharaohs of Egypt jealous. Nothing brings a family together like game night.

Nightmare

There’s nothing more fun than having a creepy dude on a television screen call you a filthy maggot for an hour. That’s pretty much the gist of Nightmare. It was part of the genre of VHS games and featured The Gatekeeper.

You need to gather 6 keys and make it back to the center of the game board within 60 minutes or else The Gatekeeper wins. He chimes in every now and then with repetitive insults just to keep players on their toes. While created during the height of the VCR era, creators did develop a DVD version.

Antler Island

This is not Bambi’s video game unless he’s a horny deer looking for some action. The primary premise of Antler Island is to become the most powerful and virile deer so you can “rut” with females. Game mechanics require you to eat and fight other deer to increase your power.

What made someone decide that a “rutting” adventure was exactly what the board game industry needed is beyond me.  Games like these are perfect for those times you’re bored and have nothing to do.

Baby Boomer

At first glance, you might think this is a game about people getting ready for retirement. Doesn’t that sound thrilling? You’d be wrong. Baby Boomer is about a toddler finding your fully loaded pistol and going on a shooting spree that already claimed life of the family dog.

You play as one of his parents or Officer Bill and race down the hall to retrieve the weapon before baby shoots. Do you feel lucky? Do ya, baby? If this type of game isn’t your cup of tea, try Mancala Games for fun that doesn’t involve firearms.

Weirdest Games Ever: Club

Have you ever wanted to run an exotic dance club? No? Tough, that’s the whole plot of Club. This adults-only game makes you the owner of a strip club and you have to maneuver through dancer divas, puritanical neighbors and street thugs as you try to turn a profit.

Created by underground comic artist William Levy, the game featured cards with “sensuous art.”
