5 Weird Hobbies You Might Want Try Your Hand At

Could you be a little bit weirder, please?

Most people have some strange ticks, or say strange things, or collect weird things. But not many people have full-on weird hobbies. What constitutes weird, anyway?

Whatever weird is, we think it’s good that weird hobbies exist and if more people had them, the world would probably be a less judgmental and terrifying place. 

Let’s look at 5 examples of weird hobbies that everyone should try their hand at.

1) Competitive Dog Grooming

Competitive dog grooming clearly rose out of someone’s disdain for regular dog grooming. Turning your dog into your canvas is a hilarious notion, but we assume that animal rights activists are against this one.

It’s resulted in some pretty wonderful pictures. Have you ever seen a dog that looks like a camel? What about a dog that looks like a football player? Do yourself a favor and look at these.

We imagine this being a great hobby for someone cooped up in an office all day, like an accountant. What better to cheer you up at the end of a long day than going home and sculpting your dog’s hair into an artistic interpretation of the Titanic?

2) News Bombing

This is a funny one. Over a several year period, London resident Paul Yarrow made it his mission to camera bomb any and every on-site reporting team he could find.

His mug has been on the BBC, Al Jazeera, and Sky News. We could all take a page out of Paul’s book and put ourselves out there a little more. Go wonder around your local city center and see if you can find a news crew to annoy.

3) Extreme Ironing

This one is for the thrill seekers out there that just can’t handle a wrinkly shirt.

You may think you can picture what extreme ironing entails, and you’re 100% correct. It involves doing your ironing in conditions that you deem to be extreme.

The levels of extreme ironing really depend on how extreme you are as a person in general. If you’re a skydiver, bring your ironing with you. If you love a good hike, bring your ironing. There are no rules to it, that’s what’s so extreme about it.

4) Starting a Beehive

Have you ever thought, “Man, beekeepers have all the fun”?

Then it’s about time you finally started up that beehive in the backyard. Beehives have become common practice among outdoorsy DIYers, so you should be able to do it too.

5) Wingsuits

Not everything on this list was going to make sense. Wingsuits are those things that humans wear to make them look like flying squirrels. It’s hard to imagine any sane people trying this.

Make Up Your Own Weird Hobbies

The key thing to remember when coming up with your weird hobbies is that you should be original. It’s so rare to have a completely original thought these days. So, if you get a good, weird one, turn it into your hobby and see who notices!
