Mirrors: Parallel Universes In The Looking Glass

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Are mirrors gateways to other universes? The debate has raged throughout the ages and continues today with arguments about photons, energy vortices, and quantum entanglement. Do our conscious minds anchor us to this reality? Can that anchor slip? Can mirrors create a rift between worlds permitting eerie glimpses into parallel realities? Are there universes so different from our own that the merest hint of their existence is enough to drive you mad? Some researchers say the answer to all those questions is yes.

Virtual reality or dimensional split?

What is reality? Is it the perception of length and breadth, and height? Is it the ability to process a kaleidoscope of light waves and chaotic patterns into a tapestry of logical order?

Reality, in its most basic form, is always perceived as a construct. What we see is always in the past. The mind operates in the eternal now, but the universe around us is always in the rear view mirror and receding. Only the imagination can anticipate the future.

What we perceive as reality is only the tip of the iceberg

When you look at the stars, you see the past and some stars you see may not even exist anymore. The same holds true of what you hear, smell, touch, and even taste. Everything you sense is delayed while the mind operates at near light speed.

You can only see lightwaves the body are designed to see. You cannot see radio waves, or the ultraviolet that honeybees dance to in the meadows, or into other dimensions. You simply don’t have the senses to see many things that exist, so only see part of reality.

The world you see is upside-down and righted by your brain. Everything is seen in two-dimensions which is converted to a 3D illusion through the parallax of two separated organs called eyes.

According to theorists like Dr. Michio Kaku, you are interacting with parallel universes right now. On the Earth next door, just outside of your perception, an SUV might barrel through the space you’re sitting in, but its quantum strings vibrate at a slightly different rate so you are oblivious to its passage.

You don’t have the senses to perceive any of this.

Rifts can open. Things can fall through into our reality or fall from here to there, wherever there might be. People can fall through too.

Dimensional doorways may be a brief, turbulent vortex, or a more stable gateway that uses the properties of physical objects to bridge the gap between the vibrating strings of the quanta.

Physical objects like mirrors?

Mirrors and the occult

The occult’s fascination with mirrors goes back many centuries. Mirrors were used by soothsayers and the high priestesses of oracles as far back as the ancient days of Sumeria.

The Dream of the Red Chamber, an ancient Chinese novel, tells the story of a Taoist monk with magical abilities that creates a double-sided mirror that reflects the truth on one side and lies on the other.

The eerie sensation many feel when looking at their reflected image in a mirror, unblinkingly staring into their own eyes, no doubt helped fuel the fire of mystic powers attached to mirrors deemed to be magical.

Mirrors are claimed to reveal visions of the future, hell, demons, ghosts, and a veritable potpourri of paranormal powers. Mirrors have been used to cast spells, murder, surrepticiously spy upon rivals, and even travel through time. The practice of using a mirror as a paranormal tool is called scrying.

A famous work of fiction, Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, uses a mirror as a portal to another world where the intrepid heroine, Alice, becomes entwined in a new adventure after her first travel through the rabbit hole.

Seers, sorcerers, witches and warlocks all believe mirrors have special powers embedded within them that can be accessed with the right words or rituals.

Although their beliefs can certainly fire the imagination, and anecdotal incidents supporting the beliefs abound, sadly there’s no real evidence that proves any of it true.

Yet it’s true that myths and legends often have a core of truth within them, like a little nugget of glistening gold locked within a featureless rock.

Could there be a truth deep within the mystic belief that the very nature of a mirror, its unique physical construction, might lend itself to opening some gateway or portal to the multiverse?

Perhaps.

The room with a view

Famous American writer of dark and eerie tales, Edgar Allan Poe, abhorred mirrors. He found them to be unsettling and slightly evil.

In his story, The Philosophy of Furniture, he wrote: “Regarded apart from its reflection, the mirror presents a continuous, flat, colorless, unrelieved surface, a thing always and obviously unpleasant. Considered as a reflector, it is potent in producing a monstrous and odious uniformity: and the evil is here aggravated, not in merely direct proportion with the augmentation of its sources, but in a ratio constantly increasing. In fact, a room with four or five mirrors arranged at random, is, for all purposes of artistic show, a room of no shape at all. If we add to this evil, the attendant glitter upon glitter, we have a perfect farrago of discordant and displeasing effects.”

The ‘Hiding Mirror’

Things are said to hide inside mirrors. Images of past events may be contained in infinitely trapped light waves. Mirrors are also considered by some to be linked to the spirit world.

Haunted American Tours has compiled a list of things never to do with a mirror. Here’s some of their cautionary suggestions:

1. Never look into a mirror by candlelight, it may show you a very haunted version of your home.

2. If you stare into a mirror between two tall, white candles you might see the spirit of a loved one who’s passed away. And their soul is stuck in your mirror.

3. Always cover a haunted mirror during a thunderstorm because lightning will release the ghosts.

4. It is considered a bad omen to receive a mirror from a deceased person’s home as a present.

5. If someone sees their reflection in a mirror in a room where someone has recently died, they will die soon.

6. It’s said that if ghost wanders your home during the night a mirror can capture it.

That’s the ghostly side of mirrors. The scientific side may be even more fascinating.

Lawrence Krauss, formerly a Case Western Reserve University professor of physics now with Arizona State University, penned a fascinating book, “Hiding in the Mirror: the Mysterious Allure of Extra Dimensions, from Plato to String Theory and Beyond.”

Krauss wonders if there’s another world in mirrors and if scientific discoveries over the past several hundred years are leading to the realization that mirrors might be windows to something else.

Still frame from motion picture ‘Into the Mirror 3′

His speculation caused some controversy, but is supported by an in-depth assessment of empircal sciences. As PhysOrg.com notes, Krauss reviews “empirical science in the last two centuries, beginning with the discovery of the laws of electromagnetism that eventually would lead to larger questions about the link between time and space that Albert Einstein would solve in 1915 with his general relativity theory. The book continues through the remarkable discoveries associated with the nature of the subatomic world, including the discoveries of nearly exotic particles such as positrons, muons, neutrinos, and quarks that have led mankind to a new understanding of the four forces in nature, and to a clear appreciation that somehow gravity is fundamentally different than the other forces in a way that is still not understood.

“It is the attempt to reconcile gravity and quantum mechanics that led scientists in the 1980s to explore string theory, with its possibility of extra dimensions.”

New discoveries tend to support many unknown worlds. And as Krauss said in an internal article about his book published by Case Western Reserve University, “Science does not operate in a vacuum. These ideas about extra dimension keep cropping up century after century, and it might be telling us somethingif not about the natural world, then at least about the human mind.”

Mirrors in the madhouse

Related to the alleged phenomenae associated with mirrors are physical portals that stand alone. These are energy areas free of containment that exist in various places of the world. Called a spatial vortex or time vortex, believers of this phenomena claim that those within the field of the vortex can phase shift.

Examples of phase-shifting (that’s also been associated with mirrors) is presented here by Burlington News. The photos are examples of people phase shifting.

Creator of the quantum computer and strong advocate of the multiverse theory, David Deutsch, employed a series of experiments with photons to prove that when passing through multiple slits, photons (even one photon) are blocked by a phase shift that cannot happen unless it is running head on into another dimension or reality.

Quantum mirrors may permit travel to other worlds

Proponents of multiverse mirrors use the photon argument to advance their contention that mirrors, at least some, could be gateways to other worlds.

Whether mirrors truly can whisk one away to another psychological, even physical reality, is debatable.

Until it’s resolved, however, I’m considering turning every one of my mirrors toward the wall.

Do mirrors contain other dimensions, infinite realities?

it takes a 3rd eye to view in 4D. seeing with two is really just being blind and leading the blind. take a quantum leap through the looking glass. it just might help unveil that 3rd eye.
      curiouser and curiouser.. and curiouser.

Nostradamus was a gazer in to a darkened bowl of water he called his magic mirror.
      Forgot to add that one.

So…people have been playing with this for a long long time, nothing has been seen or proven, even to the point of using gold foil instead of silver for the mirror, to have a better cosmic conductor.

      AND…NOTHING.

So whats next? Spinning 3 times in the dark in front of the bathroom mirror saying bloody Mary 13 times.

Didn’t the twilight zone do a mirror thing too, or was it night gallery?

      Maybe…A nightmare on elm street.

The whole mirror thing, is that we vainly look to self, comb, brush, put on war paint, to change our appearance, or to make us look better to or for others, when you place two mirror front to front the passage way it creates, no longer looks to the outward, it seems to look inside itself, which flips most people out because it is like showing the inner person, which many avoid doing for, either fear of getting hurt, or showing what they are really about or their inner thoughts…

      Interesting 3rd eye 4th dimension
      Einstein called the 4th time…

String theory, for example, relies upon at least 10 dimensions to remain viable [source: Groleau].

Ya do have Some cool pics

I am not a scientist but I do like hamburgers. Sitting at Mc Donalds eating a hamburger caused me to notice in a mirror an impossible construct. I will try to explain. The mirror was on my left directly above the table at sitting level. As I looked into the mirror I noticed that the people standing in line maybe 15 feet away were also in the mirror. I was taught light travels in straight lines. I had my head looking toward them but at that angle in the mirror. Looking in the mirror with my head nearest to the mirror I realized the reflection would have to come toward me then register into the mirror back to appear 15 feet back. Another way to say this is to take a hand mirror
and place it toward the bridge of your nose at 90 degrees. With the mirror just move it about 87 to 93 degrees looking into the far edges of the mirror. The image you are seeing is not possible. That image has to go into the mirror and be placed into the mirror back to the original position as outside the mirror. I was taught that light travels in straight lines. So what on earth is this.

My second observation comes from many mormon temples. In the second level of the three final rooms within most if not all mormon temples, there are large mirrors facing each other from across a space. The idea is that you look into the facing mirrors which depict infinity and eternity. You will see yourself over and over again until your image in the repeating mirrors disappear. I realized this may be a passageway
for beings to come and go. There are stories of people who were present at the begining of the service who were not there at the end of the service. So what is this.

      Seems my earlier post disappeared.

I said, a mirror is a piece of glass with a silver backing that allows light to bounce off creating a reflection.

      No mystery.

Nope, sorry, I cannot enlighten anyone, that we must do for ourselves. I could however maybe provide a few pointers. Like for example, enlightenment is something that we are, enlightenment cannot be achieved. Or, that enlightenment is to know who you are not, not what you are. And, give up the obsessive need to know who you are.

The Universe Is Mental, held in the mind of the ALL – Kybalion

The Kybalion knew about string theory also that science claimed they came up with in the 1960′s which was a lie. Hermetics has been around since ancient Egypt. Read it… it will help you understand the universe better.

These dimensions and parallel realities exist within the mental creation of the universe.

“The Universe Is Mental, held in the mind of the ALL”

You are close but when you say all you are taking a guess and would that be all 7bn from earth or would it included “Soles” that don’t live on earth and would it include animals too ?

I don’t have the answer but i was shown (didn’t ask to see) and i can tell you from the little bit that i know is that we belong to some type of house teams where something like 5,000 soles mind meld within the group so everyone shares all there data, one sees, they all can see and feel too.

The feeling is mch better than any heaven you can imagine and i was only given a small taste that lasted seconds but it’s a feeling you will never forget and these house teams all give off a type of feeling, a invite if you like (that all i realy got i think) to join their teams and picking a team is not an easy decision to make not that i had time too.

Feel very lucky i have shared this with you

String theory is bullshit and when ever the numbers did not add up they added another dimention to the theory so in the end anything could be true because they got to the stage where none of them understood what happened where and it’s just mumbo jumbo maths

You are not even upto date and should be talking about “M-Theory” that replaced string Theory but would do better taking a second look at the big bang bullshit and black wholes.

Have you ever, ever been shown a picture of a black hole in your life and not just some computer simulation or photoshop job because the answer is no unless you have xray eyes that can see through matter because the center of out milkyway is surounded in gas, rocks, dust and planets.

Do you know the best they have seen using gammer rays from nutron stars that are on the far side of our milkyway is six pixels worth of data and the only reason they are seeing a black hole is because thats what they want to see.

There is no mystery about mirrors. Their behaviour is adequately explained by simple geometry. If you need a more rigorous explanation read Richard Feynman’s Quantum Electrodynamics. The pics aren’t cool; whats interesting about fake pics of things that don’t happen?

” Do our conscious minds anchor us to this reality”

Your consious mind is the result of a throw of the dice that comes from an Egg and Sperm race that results in a mix of DNA and thats computer code that creates the blue print for your consious mind thats dies when you do.

      ” Can that anchor slip?”

Yes it does that every night when you sleep but your sole/being does not always share what it’s been doing at night with your consious side of your brain but it’s “Free time” from you the boss at night and the sub-consious part of you is allowed to enter other computer simulations to learn/play

Light is just an illusion that is put togeather in your mind and you know this is true because Neuroscinece in it’s early stages can now transmit images to the brain and even to some extent see images that are made up in your brain so it’s all just data.

Our laws of physics are not fixed like maths and they can be changed depending on what computer simulation you are in and if one has no gravity then it has no gravity and if one turns upside down every 24 hours then it tuens upside down as simple as that.

Maths is the only constant across all simulations and Data is the only real thing that exsists so far as we are concerned and you should not try to play with or hack the data/information because it comes at a risk and is not just harmless fun and will put you in a nut house if you are not carefull and i would say “know what you are doing” but none of us realy know that do we now.

I would have a warning for Dragon Sensei about something he said here but cannot go into detail because everyone would know then but if he wants to leave an email address then i will risk it and contact him

Entanglment is real but not in the way that crazzy quantum theory nut cases would have you beleive, it’s taken to exstreams and is more a case of spooky logic at a distance but it can be used for encruption

This is a very old post and it seems strange that it has popped back up again four years later
